‘Stripper 101’ Classes Spin-‘N-Slide into Las Vegas

Being naughty in Sin City has just gained another notch for its bedpost.  In a bid to conjure up and offer new and exciting exercise routines to stay fit – and, in the process, find a creative solution to counteract our stagnant economy – many Las Vegas boutique gyms have begun offering pole dancing classes.   pole-dancing

Capitalizing on this trend, Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has a new twist: Offering its hotel guests and local residents the opportunity to experience soothing, soul-renewing music in a dimly-lit, swank atmosphere, the refreshing camaraderie of a hassle free, glow-in-the-dark pole date, and, as a innocuous by-product- be transformed svelte and fit in their new “Stripper 101″ class in the V Theatre in the Miracle Mile Shops.   Glow pole dancing has arrived.

Catering to the budding pro and recreational spin-‘n-slider to-be, this women only class (sorry guys) consists of a full sexy striptease cardio workout in a Las Vegas nightclub atmosphere.   With no prior experience required,  training classes conducted by Pole Experts provide how-to’s for turning lap dancing tricks, er…techniques (ala colorful boas), proper pole handling methods, and, since this is in Las Vegas, after all- cocktails are served for the ultimate cool-down.

Think this is merely for show-and-tell?  Think again- the full body workout burns off 300 to 400 calories per hour (minus the cocktail).

The growing socially acceptable classes are rapidly become the in meeting place for bachelorette and birthday parties too.  The draw is in part because of it’s inferred naughty vibe, but also because this is an exercise class that doesn’t force exercising by using traditional methods.

Class reservations are recommended (click for info), though, and attendees must be 18 years of age or older.  Packages, which can include commemorative T-shirts and even group and individual souvenir photos, range from $40 – $60. And, for the price of a ticket, those who want to celebrate the day but not trip-the-hip-fantastic may elect to crash the classes to just cheer on their friends and family.

Oscar Night Comes to Las Vegas

oscarThe glitz and glamour of Hollywood comes to Las Vegas for one evening, coordinated by the efforts of the Arthritis Foundation, when “Oscar Night America,” will be hosted inside the Rain nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 22.   Cocktails and silent auction start at 4 p.m., followed by dinner and Oscar telecast at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s event, also known as “The Second Best Oscar® Party in the Country,” will mark a series of firsts.  Rain Nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort will be a first-time host for the event, allowing for an all-new format and seating arrangement. Also, a new host committee has been assembled to conduct the event consisting of veterans of Las Vegas nightlife, entertainers, and casino marketing and socialites. Additionally, Oscar Night® America 2009 will stray from its traditional format in an effort to speak to a new audience and create a unique set of experiences.  Our Las Vegas event will also be honoring three very deserving community members this year including Commitment to Community Award Honorees Glynda Rhodes, Zappos.com and Cathy Ray Community Health Award Honoree Parvin Modaber-Jacobs, MD.   Here’s the link to sign up for this invite-only event:  http://www.secondbestoscarparty.com/

Donald Trump Just Trumped Himself – Super Las Vegas Deal

Unlike Britney Spears, most of us can’t afford the Hugh Hefner suite at the Palms Casino & Resort.  When we travel to Las Vegas we’re looking for room deals at Priceline.com , Travelocity, and other online merchants.   However, the current economic conditions have caused many four- and five-star hotels in Las Vegas to offer deals – steals – that are well worth the cost of many flights.

Trump Hotel in Las Vegas – one of the newest and most luxurious hotels here – has just announced that they are offering rooms as low as $89 per night, with no minimum stay.  When booking, just ask for their “Suite Escape” and you’ll get to stay in a Studio Suite.  If the gold “T” on your door doesn’t impress you, perhaps the 500-thread count sheets and floor-to-ceiling 14 carrot gold-gilded windows will.  Spending time at the spa is also not as expensive as it was just 30 days ago.   Depending on the package you select, you could get up to a $50 spa credit for any of their services offered.

And since you’ll be in Las Vegas anyway (here’s hoping), why not consider booking a reservation to see Carrot Top perform at the Luxor?  Book online and take advantage of a 20% discount on show tickets or call the Luxor at 702-262-4000 and arrange for a dinner and show for less than $100 per person.  (Yes, you read that right.)

Talk about going to Vegas on the cheap. . .
