Miss USA Pageant Contestants Vie for Porn Star Honors in Las Vegas

Remember when Miss USA Pageant contestants once wanted to cure cancer and be the first female president?  Or do you recall when swimsuits and two-piece bathing suits were all the rage? Well, get with the times– that was so last century! This year’s Miss USA pageant is trying to boost rapidly sagging television ratings by promoting its upcoming pageant with an erotically explosive expose of the contestants shown in busty and skimpy photos and videos.

A pageant spokeswoman calls the underwear photos tasteful. The contenders for the pageant title ALL dream of being Victoria’s Secret Angels, reveals pageant president Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, which operates the Miss USA pageant.

“They’re not looking to bring peace to the world,” Shugart explained to Today Show co-host Matt Lauer on May 11. That’s why it was not just OK, but it actually made sense to have the 51 contestants photographed in bust- and leg-revealing, bras, panties, fish-net stockings and open men’s shirts, while laying on beds and chaise lounges, for their pageant promo shoots.

The “come hither” black and white photos make the contestants look more like members of Tiger Woods‘ harem than the young ladies who supposedly combine beauty and brains we’re used to seeing in pageants.

The tenuous line between wholesome family entertainment and soft porn has now, apparently, been obliterated- one for the dusty history books.

Girls in bikinis appear chaste and sublime next to this year’s crop of potential Miss USAs, who are adorned in masses of long wild hair, heavy smoky make-up and pouty lipstick, sprawled seductively on beds.

But pageant officials are quick to point out that the seductive shoots were all voluntary and had no force or effect on the judging.  Yeah, right.  Nearly all contestants participated.

Swirling controversy, however, has been common fodder for the pageant as of late.

Former pageant winner and now judge Tara Connor says she doesn’t have a problem with the revealing looks, questioning why many have their “panties in wad.” She nearly lost her crown after reports of substance abuse cropped up in 2006 and even had to go into rehab.

The next year, Miss Nevada, Katie Rees, lost her title after racy photographs surfaced on the Internet.

And last year, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, got into some trouble for comments against gay marriage — and her own set of racy photos appeared.  Eventually, she was fired.

Pageant owner and well-quaffed Donald Trump seems to feel that the sexed-up look is necessary for the contestants if the pageant is going to compete for ratings on TV. He says he has no problem with the pictures. He calls them “a little bit sexy” and is glad people will be watching.

“If you look at Miss America, it’s now off network television,” Donald told the New York Daily News

So, BFFs — wanting to be a beautiful brain surgeon who happens to also look good in elbow-length gloves and a ball gown just isn’t enough to compete in a beauty pageant anymore.

You also have to be willing to crouch on a bed, pouting on all fours in Madonna-style soft-core porn pics.

“There used to be an idea that pageants … were about upstanding young women with a future and it wasn’t at all surprising to find a woman of stature in public life, in government or corporate America who had a pageant tucked into her resumé,” says Pamela Paul, author of Pornified. ”There was an idea that pageant contestants could be well-rounded woman with ambition. This ad campaign chucks aside any other qualifications than they look good in a bra.”

On the Miss Universe/Miss USA website for the 51 contestants, brief bios list their ages, hometowns- and nothing else. They do, however, all get star ratings. Interestingly, the top-rated contestant was Miss Louisiana, Sara Brooks, a 21-year-old from Lafayette who happens to be the most clothed of all of the 51 contenders. Maybe people do like having pageant beauty leave a little something to the imagination and just maybe they would like them to be brain surgeons as well as beauties after all?

Just a few decades ago, more than 20 million viewers watched women in one-piece bathing suits in the Miss America pageant. But as the suits got skimpier, that portion of the competition was downplayed — and viewers fled. That contest is now off the air, a fate Miss USA is trying to avoid like the plague- at any cost.

“Any press is good press,” Conner admits. “So — keep talking!”

NBC’s “59th Annual Miss USA Pageant,” which will broadcast live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on May 16 (7-9 p.m. ET).

Tickets to the Miss USA Preliminary and Finals competitions at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com and at (800) 745-3000.

‘Stripper-Mobile’ Putt-Putts Back to Las Vegas

The creator of the “stripper-mobile” plans to bring it back to Las Vegas but officials say they’ll try to enact a permanent ban on the traveling nudie show.

Larry Beard, the creator of the innovative truck featuring strippers dancing in the back in a lighted Plexiglas box to advertise local strip clubs, said he wants to bring it back after their national “tour” to participate in Las Vegas’ April 30 Pride Parade.

The truck debuted in November 2009 with dancers from the Deja Vu and Little Darlings strip clubs, but when Clark County commissioners complained, Beard took it off the streets.

Since then, the truck has gone to New Orleans for the National Football Conference championship game, then to Miami for the Super Bowl. It also spent some time in Tampa Bay and St. Louis.

“I’d like to run it up and down the road {in Las Vegas} a couple times,” Beard said. “If I get half a chance, you know, I will.”

Clark County Commission members say they want to rewrite an existing law to keep the “stripper-mobile” off the Sin City streets for good.

Michelle “Bombshell” McGee Bumps & Grinds in Las Vegas Tonight

Though Jesse James’ alleged mistress was just dropped from a recent Miami, Florida performance gig, and many other gigs as well because of public outrage over her planned appearances, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee has apparently found a much more ”friendly” topless place to literally hang out– Las Vegas!

On April 23 at midnight, she is set to make her first Las Vegas appearance, signing autographs, posing for photos, and dancing topless at Déjà vu Showgirls club in Las Vegas.

According to the Déjà vu advertising and marketing director director Larry Beard, the club is taking advantage and riding on to her popularity right now. McGee will be paid $5,000 by the club, apart from the tips she will get.

There will also be a large group of tattoo enthusiasts attending.

Dead Las Vegas Topless Club May Miraculously Get Resuscitated

Christopher Condotti, a trucking company owner from Chicago, has just been approved by the United States Department of Justice to purchase the long defunct Crazy Horse Too topless bar and nightclub in Las Vegas for $10.5 million.

The extremely popular bar closed in July, 2007 and was once the haunt of porn star Jenna Jameson who used to strip there.   And the nightclub was frequented nightly by many celebrities and politicians.

The bar’s previous owner, ex-felon Rick Rizzolo, is still obligated to pay court ordered debts amounting to more than $17 million dollars including $10 million to beating victim Kirk Henry which must come totally from the sale of the bar.

However, the pending sale to Condotti (listed under CC Holdings LLC, where Condotti is manager) for less than $17 million leaves Rizzolo responsible for making up the deficit from his personal assets most likely hidden in the Cook Islands, according to court records.

Because of the club’s close proximity to other adult uses, it was grandfathered in and operated for many years on a Special Use Permit that expired in 2008 following the bar’sclosure by the City of Las Vegas based on it being a public nuisance.

The current sale is dependent on the Las Vegas City Council granting Condotti a change of zoning and a permanent liquor license according to the ASSET PURCHASE AGREEMENT, released on April 21.  The sale is contigent upon the club being granted several licenses, including a special-use zoning permit, a liquor license, a tobacco license and a retail sales license.  The deadline for getting those is Nov. 30, 2010.

Included in the Order of Forfeiture filed in 2008, and the following document filed in U.S. Federal Court on January 29, 2010, Rizzolo agreed to stand personally responsible to pay the difference in the event the Crazy Horse Too does not sell for an amount adequate to pay his court ordered debts. He did so in exchange for a feather light prison sentence.

Based on the current sale, it’s probable that Rick and Lisa Rizzolo’s hidden off shore assets will be seized to pay the deficit in the likely event Kirk Henry or the government prevails at a Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA) jury trial tentatively scheduled for September 2010.

The seizure is expected unless Rick Rizzolo’s attorneys can effectively convince the jury that their client is broke, and that he transferred half his assets to his ex-wife during a legitimate divorce that was finalized one month before he began plea negotiations, and following the filing of Mr. Henry’s personal injury lawsuit.  To see the full ASSET PURCHASE AGREEMENT, click here.

Sin City Sindy Busts Out All Over

She’s big. She’s busty. She’s Sin City Sindy, and you can now see her at the Stripper Bar opens inside the Miracle Mile Shops in Las Vegas.  The fiberglass and sculpted-foam statue—over 25 feet tall from her ginger locks down to her over-the-knee red platform boots—will preside over the entrance to the bar that has historically served as a meeting spot for the adjacent V Theater’s Stripper 101 classes.

Now as enhanced as its sexy, towering sentry, the tiny corner Stripper Bar will continue to dole out liquid courage to ladies attending the increasingly popular stripper class, though Sindy’s crotch-cam (which will literally catch you peeking up Sindy’s pleated skirt as you pass between her legs to reach the bar) might very well steal the show.

About the size of a Manhattan studio apartment, Stripper Bar was nearly leased out to a tenant to attract attention to the otherwise forgettable walk-up frozen-blended cocktail bar.

“I thought, I’ve got to do something crazy,” David Saxe, the show producer says, “but I never really thought about a bar.” He credits his wife with the idea for Sindy; Saxe crafted Sindy’s undercarriage himself in a warehouse off Boulder Highway.

Under Stripper Bar’s painted-tin roof, Miracle Mile’s vast crowds can relax on stools and at modern patio tables with stripper-themed cocktails, enjoy food from neighboring La Salsa, watch sporting events on the TV screens, play drinking games (Battleship!), and applaud as the hostesses and bartenders—also Stripper 101’s instructors—take turns on a central stripper pole platform.

Booze & Boobs Las Vegas Recap

With many businesses in the Las Vegas economy having to rapidly reinvent and transform themselves just to stay afloat, Las Vegas Backstage Access thought you’d enjoy a quick staffing operations recap on booze and boob joints in Sin City.

For Las Vegas adult strip clubs the general rule is that for 18-and-over clubs you can see the barely-legal dancers completely in the buff, but – always a catch – they can’t serve you alcohol.

Now, if you want to drink alcoholic beverages, you’ll have to hit up a 21-and-over Las Vegas club for a lap dance and a cocktail; the dancers there are of legal drinking age as well. (The rare exception to the rule is the Palomino where—through a supposed deal Frank Sinatra made back in the Mob day—the club has 18-and-over fully nude dancers and serves alcohol.)

On the other paw, Déjà Vu Showgirls, has just made the switch from completely nekked and dry to 21-and-over, topless, and offering a full bar. And, to celebrate the change in these tough times, Déjà Vu marketing and promotions director Larry Beard says, “We will have free draught beer for a short time to promote the change to alcohol.”

While there was no official reason for the switch, according to Beard, if you still really want to see dancers completely in the buff, you can still do so at their sister property, Little Darlings.

Hugh Hefner, aka The Hef, will turn 84 this week, and now has one helluva 23-year-old ”keeper” girlfriend to help celebrate his birthday in Las Vegas at the Playboy towers in the Palms Casino Resort.

“I am in a very good relationship with a young lady named Crystal Harris,” Hefner said, beaming. “She’s a keeper.”

Tiger Woods Adds Another Porn Star; Mistress Moves to Las Vegas

With this week marking Tiger Woods return to professional golf, more high-profile names with Las Vegas nightclub connections have surfaced in his ongoing infidelity scandal.

Los Angeles nightlife impresario and Peter Morton’s right hand man supplying celebrities to the now defunct Body English nightclub at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel, Brent Bolthouse is mentioned in the May issue of Vanity Fair, which features “The Temptation of Tiger Woods,” one of the most comprehensive accounts to date on the golf star’s double life.

Porn star Holly Sampson, right, told Vanity Fair that Bolthouse got her involved in a May 2009 bachelor party Woods was throwing for an associate.

Meanwhile, Rachel Uchitel, the former Las Vegas Tao VIP host who has been referred to as Tiger’s Mistress No. 1, recently told FoxNews.com that she has moved to Las Vegas to be with her dogs and family, adding she gets less media scrutiny in Las Vegas than she did while living in New York City.

Burlesque Queen Dita Von Teese’s New Las Vegas Tease: Going Topless!

Burlesque Queen Dita Von Teese has always teased about taking it off, but not really doing it- and that’s proved, for many, the charm of her act.  But tonight at her Las Vegas premeire opening she has a brand new trick up her bare sleeve, taking her act up a notch or two: going topless!

The petite porcelain powerhouse, fashion icon, author and entrepreneur, who once dated Marilyn Manson – and once even danced for dollars at the topless gentlemen’s club Crazy Horse Club here in Sin City – is reportedly really excited about her premiere tonight in Crazy Horse Paris at the MGM Grand.

Providing the audience her first totally topless unveiling, Von Teese will  perform three sexy, saucy and sassy new numbers on the cabaret stage there for a limited run through April 7.

Dita was the first guest star in the history of the famous French cabaret, and she will feature new performance numbers that she developed especially for her sold-out performances in the French capital last year.

She will debut “Lazy,” a routine that features her and the magnificent Crazy Horse dancers. Her “Le Bain Noir” will be a new take on her famous bathtub show that she first performed here in 2007. Dita also promises a new “Teese’ing’ version of the iconic Crazy Horse number “Teasing.”

First U.S. Legal Male Prostitute Hangs Up His Spurs

The first legal male prostitute in the U.S. has left a Nevada brothel.  Why? Fewer than 10 customers after a two-month stint!

Brothel owner Jim Davis  of the Shady Lady Ranch, a brothel 150 miles northwest of Las Vegas, said a new replacement stud has been hired, but the original 25-year-old “prostitude,” who worked simply under the name “Markus,” could be back.

Bobbi Davis, who co-owns the brothel with her husband and runs it as its madam, said the departure of Markus was a mutual decision.

Markus is still listed under the name “Markus Destin” by adult talent agency OC Modeling.

Davis said the brothel would keep employing men to have sex with women, including its latest hire, a Las Vegas man in his mid-30s who works under the name “Y. Not,” who has had about 10 customers since Markus has left.

The focus of the business, however, will remain on women prostitutes serving men, Davis said.

The Shady Lady Ranch created a huge stir in Nevada’s brothel industry when it successfully won state and county approval to hire a male sex worker.

After hiring Markus, the Davises cut him off from speaking with reporters after his first two interviews, in which he compared himself with Rosa Parks and Mahatma Gandhi.

Markus was the subject of a first-person story by the New York Post after a female reporter hired him but she said they did not have sex.

Brothels Get Raw Deal in Nevada

Even sex is struggling in our economy- and especially in fickle Nevada.  A federal appeals court last week upheld a Nevada law that bars legal brothels that operate in some of the state’s rural areas from advertising by newspaper, leaflets and billboards in Las Vegas, Reno and other places where prostitution is illegal.

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto hailed the ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in San Francisco, while a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada promised to appeal.

The laws had been challenged by the ACLU, a Nye County brothel called the Shady Lady Ranch and two newspapers: the High Desert Advocate and Las Vegas City Life.

Prostitution is illegal in Clark and Washoe counties — which include Las Vegas and Reno — and three other Nevada counties. Ten Nevada counties authorize prostitution by local ordinance.

The 9th Circuit panel reversed a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan in Nevada that two 1979 state laws prohibiting brothel advertising in counties where prostitution is illegal were overly broad and unconstitutional.

The laws also prohibit brothel advertising in theaters and on streets and public highways.

Nevada still seeks to confine the sale of sex acts through licensing and advertising restrictions, the judges said.

ACLU attorney Allen Lichtenstein said he didn’t immediately know whether he’d seek a hearing before the full 9th Circuit or would ask the U.S. Supreme Court to take the case.

“The key issue is freedom of speech,” he said.

“It’s a violation of the First Amendment for the state to restrict advertising by a legal industry, and it’s wrong for a court to make exceptions because the state doesn’t want to have it advertised that legalized prostitution exists,” Lichtenstein said.

Masto called free speech “perhaps our most cherished right.” But Nevada has had restrictions on brothel advertising for 40 years, and the state should have the right to have reasonable limitations, she said.

The case is Coyote Publishing v. Miller, No. 07-16633.

Submissive students will learn the erotic knotty art in pairs, and must provide their own rope.

Rest assured, what you learn here won’t come undone- no matter how much or how loud you moan.

Naked in Las Vegas

Greg Friedler is a fine art photographer.  Translated, he has a passion for capturing unique still photo scenes.  But his other finely honed artsy ability is taking photographs of willing people posed clothed and naked in front of a studio canvas.

Las Vegas, undisputed City of Sin, was squarely in his camera’s viewfinder years ago and is now part of a documentary film, “Stripped: Greg Friedler’s Naked Las Vegas,” by David Palmer, which will premier in March 2010 and is planned to be on Showtime for two years.

Their creative effort started in 1973, working from scratch and with no confirmed photo subjects nor even a confirmed location to shoot, Denver, Colorado-based avant-garde photographer Friedler and Los Angeles-based filmmaker David Palmer embarked on a multi-dimensional and highly emotional 30-day Las Vegas roller coaster ride, that would eventually bring together 173 naked human beings of every shape, size, and walk of life.

Participants in the project entered a small white room with a red curtain and opened themselves up, literally, for what eventually became “Stripped: Gred Friedler’s Naked: Las Vegas,” baring not only their naked bodies, but, equally important, a bit of their inner souls.

In 2008, with a pre-release copy of Greg Friedler’s book “Naked Las Vegas” in hand, David Palmer would journey back to Las Vegas and follow up interpersonally with 40 of the book’s true-life characters whom he had documented during Friedler’s initial Las Vegas shoot.  What would become apparent was that not only had the city of Las Vegas gone through very drastic changes, so too, on multiple levels, did the people whom Friedler and Palmer had photographed.

Through Palmer’s discerning lens, which at times becomes so humanizing that even clothed, the film’s characters feel more naked than ever; viewers are privileged to see what happens when everyday human beings stripped of clothing, comforts and society’s judgments discover an even playing field of beauty, humanity and ultimately self love.

The variety of visual candy is amazing.  From a homeless man who strips himself of his past regrets to find employment, a home of his own, and along with it his dignity; to a hermaphrodite couple exposing the truth that beauty and love can be shared beyond social stigmas; to an Elvis impersonator nakedly confronting his own lack of trust in society and finding faith in others by keeping his own commitments, “Stripped” prevails by sharing an honest, true story of ultimate triumph over what may seem like insurmountable social and personal odds.

In our society that is overwrought with an obsession for money, fame and beauty, this collective of unique and sometimes bizarre individuals, living in one of the world’s most infamous cities, shows all of us it is possible to grow from crisis, to find the betterment of humanity through vulnerability, and ultimately be uplifted and inspired by the triumphs of coming to terms with who we all really are.

Strippermobile Shuns Las Vegas, Launches U.S. Tour

Just because it doesn’t happen in Las Vegas anymore, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense- and money. Though the strippermobile is no longer trolling for customers down the Las Vegas Strip due to earlier Clark County Commissioner’s admanat objections based on safety concerns, in the next few weeks it will be going up and down Main Street, USA.

On January 10, it will become a Las Vegas-born – and banned – business that took its show on the road.

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access, the last and only time the vehicle rolled was November in Las Vegas, when bikini-clad strippers hopped aboard and gyrated inside the truck’s Plexiglas-enclosed cargo area, swung around a brass pole affixed to the middle of the truck bed.

Launching what arguably may be one of the greatest marketing ploys ever, the  “Strippermobile Winter Tour 2010,” as it is dubbed, will be filmed as a documentary, carrying a full production crew with them.  Larry Beard, marketing guru for Déjà vu gentlemen’s club in Las Vegas, hopes to have it broadcast on cable television, albeit most likely adult on-demand channels.

With three select strippers ready and willing to tout their wares, Beard expects the truck to roll out of Sin City on Jan. 10, making its first stops on their national tour in Southern California.  That state has almost 20 Déjà vu- operated strip clubs.  The strippermobile with then go up the coast, lingering in Portland, Ore., because, says Beard, the decency laws there are lax and the dancers will be totally nude during that stretch of the trip.

After Portland, it’s off to Seattle, then to the Midwest- Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan- all of which have Déjà Vu clubs.  Then it’s off to New York City and Times Square, down to Maryland, over to Kentucky and Tennessee, down to Florida for the college spring break and over to Louisiana for Mardi Gras.  Then their itinerary takes the crew to Colorado before the wayward truck comes home to roost once again in Las Vegas in the spring.

“And on our travels, of course, we’ll get pictures of the girls alongside Mount Rushmore and other famous sites,” Beard says.

Las Vegas Strippers Slither into Gooey Ice Cream Fray

Times are tough.  And wise businessmen know that without reinvention, their business death in imminent- or, for strippers, they lose the pole touch.  Knowing that, Little Darlings Strip Club in Las Vegas has just started experimenting with icy cold idea- free complimentary gooey sundaes with all the ‘toppings’ to all patrons every Sunday night.

But it doesn’t end there.  Heavens no. The real treat takes place when two lovely ladies are squished into a giant oversize glass situated at the center of the adult entertainment venue.  Canisters of whipped cream are then handed out to salivating patrons who are invited to build a sundae directly on the gals while they smother one another with gobs of ice cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and cherries.  After awhile, dollars fly into the sundae-making fray, making a mess beyond compare while boosting profits for the club and hostesses.

From all indications, the business promotion is a smashing success.  The only complaints are when the guys run out of whipped cream.

Nevada’s Shady Lady Ranch First to Offer All Male Prostitutes

If you are between 21 and 40 and service-oriented, you could be Nevada’s next male prostitute!

The Shady Lady Ranch in Nye County, a quick two-hour drive from Las Vegas, is set to add male prostitutes to its roster of good-time, fun-lovin’ ladies.

The change is thanks to Nevada’s recently altered health laws. In the past, all prostitutes had to undergo regular cervical testing for sexually transmitted diseases — a slight problem for the menfolk.  But now urethral testing is also OK’d by law.

With that bit of anatomical housekeeping out of the way, Shady Lady owner Bobbi Davis is ready to give the men a tumble. The ranch’s website is already looking “for a few good men.”

Their stated requirements:

- Between 21 and 40

- Have a good work ethic

- Have a willingness to please

- Must be service oriented

Ex-Madam Heidi Fleiss Back on Top- Again!

Las Vegas Backstage Access has written many times on the illustrious Heidi Fleiss.

Now, the ex-Madam Heidi Fleiss is back in the news again, and pretty much for the same reason she always made news, selling sex.

This time however, her source of income is the airing of an HBO special about, Heidi Fleiss’ Stud Farm, her latest sex for money venture in Las Vegas – where anything is legal- well, er…almost.

Now, fresh off her inpatient drug treatment program stint on VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab 2″ with Dr. Drew Pinsky, in September Fleiss was sentenced to three years probation on felony drug charges stemming from her February ’08 arrest in Pahrump, a rural town 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas.

She needs to stay out of trouble, and away from drugs, through 2012.   She promised she would.

The former Hollywood Madam, 43, plans to leave her home in Pahrump and her many birds in January to be on the show, which is in its last season. It was announced in August that Britain’s Channel 4 would pull the plug on the series due to low viewer ratings.

District Judge John Davis in Pahrump cleared her earliery in the week to travel to London early January for a paid appearance on the reality television show.

This will be her second appearance on a reality television show, unless you count all of the times her real life has landed her on televison.

Fleiss told the Review-Journal that she was to be paid $10,000 per episode, money she needs as her most recent endeavor, a dog grooming shop in Las Vegas, is apparently all washed up.

She continues to draw a paycheck from a laundromat she owns in Pahrump called Dirty Laundry.

Fleiss originally achieved notoriety through her part in an illegal prositution ring in Hollywood, claiming she made in excess of $10 millon a year which involved high profile celebrities, drugs, and all the other assorted benefits of life down under.

As for her latest venture, there is not much news as to how many episodes HBO will run, or the business end of the deal either.

Rolling Strippers Prove Too Much for Las Vegas

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access on Nov. 11, live strippers cavorting on the back of a truck have now proved too much — even for Sin City.

A Las Vegas strip club has agreed to stop an advertising promotion that involved hauling bikini-clad exotic dancers around in a truck down Las Vegas Boulevard with clear plastic sides.

Larry Beard, marketing director of Deja Vu Showgirls in Las Vegas, said late last Friday that he’s taking his lawyer’s advice and parking the truck.

“We’re going to respect the opinion of the folks that are against it,” Beard told The Associated Press. “We’re going to be good citizens and take it off the street.”

Beard had told the AP earlier this week that he was prepared to fight county leaders and others who thought the moving truck promotion was unseemly or unsafe.

“The girls are wearing more than the girls at the swimming pool wear,” Beard said this week. “Even though they’re not stripping and taking their clothes off I think people are offended because of the idea that they do.”

The truck rolled for 13 nights along the Las Vegas Strip from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., trying to lure customers to the club. Three sides had windows that weren’t tinted, offering views of the strippers dancing around a stripper pole.

The tactic worked, with business booming almost twice what it was before the since the truck started going out, Beard said.

“We even have cars and limos follow us to the club,” Beard said.

The dancers were allowed to perform in the truck because it was classified as a vehicle for hire, which let the dancers ride in the back without seat belts, Beard said.

Public outrage over the truck grew as pictures and videos of the truck surfaced on the Internet and a county commissioner in Las Vegas vowed to shut it down.

Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak said he got calls from citizens who hated it and others who liked it, but he considered the truck a safety problem.

“It’s clearly a distraction,” Sisolak told the AP. “Somebody’s going to turn their head to look at some girl flipping upside-down and spinning on a pole, and take their eyes off the road and could swerve and pop up the sidewalk and plow into a bunch of tourists that are walking along.”

Sisolak said he plans to try to close a loophole in local laws regulating mobile billboards.  The next commission meeting is tomorrow in Las Vegas.

Regulations prohibit advertising vehicles that use animation or flashing lights, and Sisolak said he would try to prevent live entertainers from being used, too.

Meanwhile, he’s happy the club owners decided to park the truck.

“Could they have won in court? That would have been a long, costly, time-exhaustive battle,” Sisolak said. “They clearly got a lot of publicity as it stands, which I’m sure made them happy.”

Strippers Strip Down Strip in Las Vegas

Even the men who hand out the alluring but tawdry “nude girls direct to your room” handbills stopped their hawking long enough to do some gawking at the “stripper-mobile” as it rolled down the Strip in Las Vegas.   Nearly everyone stopped to take notice. Stripmobile

The vehicle is akin to a small U-Haul truck but with Plexiglas surrounding the brightly lit cargo area instead of walls. In the middle is a gleaming stripper pole. Swinging around the pole is a scantily clad young woman. Two of her fellow strippers are in the back of the truck too, eagerly awaiting their turns.

It’s the ultimate new advertising vehicle that really draws in the business in Las Vegas, according to Larry Beard, marking director for Déjà Vu Showgirls. Having run the truck up and down the Strip late at night and into the wee hours for only the past 11 days, he claims it has doubled business at the all-nude Déjà Vu and Little Darlings gentlemen’s clubs.

If a couple of Clark County commissioners get their way, however, it might soon be a late, great idea. Arguing that state and county laws prohibit the use of a public right of way for advertising-only vehicles, as well as the possibility that the distracting nature of the “advertising” is such that it could cause accidents, commissioners plan to discuss it at this coming Tuesday’s board meeting.

“You could have 10 of them out there pretty quick and a million people just staring,” Commissioner Steve Sisolak said Tuesday. “We have to get a handle on it before it gets too out of hand.”

But inside the nearly soundproof rectangle that literally glows from a distance, Kay, 21, and Alyssa and Bella, both 20, were concerned about the pole slipping out of their hands. They balanced on clear-plastic high heels and laughed and posed. Their bikini tops and bottoms are skintight to try to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions during acrobatics on the pole.

Kay used a loudspeaker to urge onlookers to come see her sans clothing at Déjà Vu.

A young man in a passing SUV waved a fistful of dollars out his window. The double-takes spread like a wave through the pedestrians on the sidewalk.

“This is what Las Vegas is all about,” said Beard, marketing director for six business entities including Déjà Vu Showgirls, Little Darlings and Hustler Topless gentlemen’s clubs. “You come here to see something you can’t see anywhere else in the world.”

The reaction, and effectiveness of the advertising, “has been phenomenal,” said Fred Robertson, whose company, Rolling Ads, provides the truck. “Most people don’t pay attention to billboards. We go out and people are just waiting to see it.”

Beard said this is an alternative to paying huge tips to cabdrivers to bring in customers and all the legal hassle that is ensuing.

The adult strip clubs need this, they say. Business has been bad- really, really bad.

That argument probably won’t fly with some county commissioners, though.  Sisolak, for example, was spurred by a letter from a constituent, Ann Mueller, who told the Sun her grandson saw the stripper-mobile on Paradise Road around 5 p.m. Friday. (Beard said the truck usually only rolls from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. but went early that night to accommodate a TV news crew.)

Mueller said in her letter: “This is not only disgusting but very dangerous” because it could cause a traffic accident.

But nothing about the women or the truck is illegal, a Metro Police spokesman said. “As long as it’s not impeding traffic, it’s fine,” Officer Jacinto Rivera explained.

Clark Countty Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani contends that Metro police department doesn’t enforce the law on mobile billboards in public rights of way because officers don’t have the time.

“But just because no one has enforced it doesn’t mean it’s not the law,” she said. “I don’t care about the content or that they’re female dancers. I’m sick of the women, in fact — let’s get some men up there for once. But this is just illegal.”

Business owner Marla Letizia previously defeated efforts to outlaw her company’s mobile billboards. She finds the stripper-mobiles “disgusting,” however, and hopes commissioners ban them.

“They won’t say it, but this is truly about content,” Letizia said. “It’s time someone in the community has the guts to say this is about class and decency in our community.”

If that argument is made, it is unlikely to withstand a court challenge, lawyer Allen Lichtenstein said. “It’s a First Amendment issue and commercial speech is protected speech,” he explained.

The stripper-mobile would not qualify as obscene, indecent or harmful to minors — “there’s nothing illegal about it,” he said.

Then again, maybe there doesn’t need to be. County sources say some of the powerful owners of Strip properties want the stripper-mobile stopped.

Big Name Rockers Perform in Las Vegas with Naked Strippers

The Playground/Crazy Horse III strip club complex in Las Vegas has just opened an intimate, 200-person rock club called Dead Man’s Hand.

So, what’s the big deal you ask?

Curiously, there is no gambling permitted, thus the customary restrictions on nudity don’t apply. Their business model has resulted in creating the only place in Las Vegas where you can see big name rockers perform and then go into the next room for some stripper lap dancing for the ultimate coup de grace.

The other nice thing that helps our choking economy:  the admission is always FREE!

Las Vegas Lap Dance Police on Dirty Dancing Manhunts

Serious crime in Southern Nevada?  Surely it must be waning.  Credit Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie for finally halting vehicle thefts, break-ins, gang violence and domestic disturbances in the Las Vegas Valley.   9-1-1 calls are apparently down to dispatchers taking calls for wayward pets and playground disputes between 2-year-olds –  local Las Vegas cops apparently have oodles of time on their idle hands. dirtydancing

How else can Las Vegas police justify making watching for dirty dancing inside strip clubs a law enforcement priority?

Last week Las Vegas police made it official, asking the Clark County Commission to approve a new code that would allow undercover officers to ticket exotic dancers who get a little too friendly with their customers.

It’s a touchy subject in many ways with the commission. Four former members were sent to federal prison this decade for taking bribes from a local strip club owner, who bought the votes he needed to protect the bump-and-grind trade.

The practices of this lucrative business model are no secret. The central transaction at strip clubs, known as a “lap dance,” involves physical contact between flittering strippers and their clothed, seated clientele. The more contact a stripper makes, generally speaking, the more the paying customer hopefully hands over in tips.

However, Vice unit Lt. Karen Hughes says some dancers deliberately arouse patrons, and then try to upsell bigger payouts later as prostitutes.

Current county code allows police to go after only club owners for dancer misconduct, such as straddling a customer. Because dancers work as freelancers and owners aren’t always on the premises, it’s difficult for police to prove that owners know about lap dances that go too far, Sgt. Glen Lowe said.

Police want the county’s code to mirror the cities. That language doesn’t impose stricter lap-dancing rules, which the commission briefly considered in 2002. Instead, police say, it makes exotic dancers directly accountable for misconduct and deters the kind of contact that leads to illegal acts of prostitution.

This is all very silly. For starters, undercover police have to be in, ahem, extremely close proximity to any lap dance to judge whether it’s appropriate or illicit. So how many vice officers will Las Vegas police dedicate to the enforcement of this code, assuming it’s approved? And how many lap dances will they have to endure before they issue a citation?

Moreover, in this economy, a new code is not going to discourage dancers from performing in ways that guarantee their income. This valley’s strip clubs carry reputations known all across the country. One even has its own reality TV show.

So should Las Vegas police ignore strip clubs altogether? Of course not. Allowing these venues to operate largely unchecked leads to lawless environments, which invites the kinds of abuses that led to the 2001 brutalization of Kansas tourist Kirk Henry by Crazy Horse Too employees over a bar bill.

But Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies need to focus their attention on serious crimes that pose a major and growing threat to public safety and private property. And if Las Vegas police can’t have cruisers respond promptly to every home burglary, if they can’t curtail the “Lord of the Flies” culture that dominates our streets and highways, then they certainly don’t have the time to crack down on lap dances.

Strip Club Reality TV Gives a Zesty Taste of Las Vegas

Embodying Las Vegas craziness, decadence and adult strip club allure, the new Playboy TV reality show King of Clubs is filmed in Las Vegas at the legendary Palomino Club, the venue’s second foray into adult TV (the first being the humorous lap top dance/quiz program Show Us Your Wits.)

The show follows the Gentile family as they take over the only strip joint in town with a full-nude license and a full bar, plus dancers who are as young as 18.  But this show is not just merely a half-hour’s worth of lap dances and nudity on the small screen.

King of Clubs premiered on September 25, and though sexuality is a strong component of each episode, it’s easy for the viewer to become wrapped up in the stories of the individuals involved in the night-to-night operations of the Palomino Club.

The family running the club presents an interesting dynamic, but also that the show reveals that strippers aren’t as dumb as tacks, the prevailing stereotype.

If you don’t subscribe to Playboy TV, no sweat.  Las Vegas locals and military are always free at the Palomino Club and they’re considering adding the channel to their cable package just to get the show.

And even if you aren’t intrigued by the business side of King of Clubs, there’s plenty of titillating content.  One upcoming episode, for example, features “Design a Vagina” night, complete with a naked backstage cat fight.

Tommy Rocker Puts On His Rockin’ Shoes Again in Las Vegas

Tommy Rocker has been a Las Vegas club/restaurant owner and long time musician and entertainment fixture for decades- probably singing more Margaritaville ballads to locals and out-of-towners then Jimmy Buffet himself — and plucking more feelin’ good tunes from his guitar than his patrons drank Margaritas at his Cantina in Las Vegas. TommyRocker

So, it was no major surprise that about four years ago, during a talk after one of his trademark Saturday open-mic shows, Tommy Rocker (real name: Thomas Greenough) spun yet another euphoric and repetitive tale about how he was going to turn his Tommy Rocker’s Cantina into an adult club.  At which juncture, most patrons just so fit to call for another drink.

Remarkably, he’d held a topless-club license for years but had never taken advantage of using it to ostensibly draw in the big bucks. Then, about a year and a half later, in the summer of 2007, Rocker converted mere bravado into action, turning the one-time Parrot Head emporium on 4275 Dean Martin Drive, just south of The Rio into a gentlemen’s club.

But soon he found that even the lure of silicone boobies wasn’t enough to make him visit his business often, which was his usual modus operandi.  Inactions and neglect eventually translated into a suffering balance sheet, badly in need of life support and more than just mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, no matter how sexy the giver. The adult club was a good idea, in theory, but so not Tommy.

So Rocker decided to give up on his “gentlemen’s club” and switch back to his old open-mic, live music beach-club format that was attended regularly by a standing-room clientele.

“A couple of months ago, I found myself thinking, ‘I hate this bar. I hate coming here, and I own the place.’ I realized then it was time to change it back,” says Rocker.

And not any too soon.  On Sept. 9 Tommy Rocker’s Cantina & Grill, received 19 demerits including violations for slimy and spoiled mushrooms.

Under his new business name, Tommy Rocker’s Mojave Beach Bar & Grill, he’s not only vowed to clean up his food act but has scheduled a comedy night (Cozy’s Comedy Corner, the first Friday of every month, inadvertently giving First Friday more competition), his own sing-along show Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. and country night with Seth Turner at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, followed by open mic with Las Vegas singer/songwriter Joey Vitale.

The grand reopening and 20th anniversary for Rocker’s business in Las Vegas is Oct. 3.

This is a good thing. This is a very good thing. Tell your friends.  The conga line forms to the left.

Las Vegas Strip Club Looking to Grease Pole Again

The federal government has wanted to unload the Crazy Horse Too strip club in Las Vegas ever since the U.S. Marshals Service assumed ownership of it in 2007 as part of a plea agreement with its former owner, felon Rick Rizzolo.

After two years and at least one failed attempt, the marshals finally have an agreement in place, largely confidential, with a new potential buyer, Mayor Oscar Goodman and several attorneys close to the case confirmed late last week.

Pete Rinato, a local attorney for the prospective buyer, said the buyer signed a contract with the Marshals Service about three weeks ago. He declined to name his client, who he said is a “non-local,” but added that his name would be released soon.

In a larger sense, an alliance of sorts has been formed, said several attorneys  knowledgeable about the deal, a kind of “strange bedfellows” pact in which many of the normally adversarial parties are now allied because they’re eager for the sale to go through.

Those parties include the prospective buyer, the federal government, Rizzolo and the man who successfully sued the now-shuttered club after his neck was broken there. This alliance doesn’t yet include the city, though it might before all is said and done.

The agreement hinges on the owner of a Russell Road strip club, calling itself the Crazy Horse 3, giving up that name so future owners of the Crazy Horse Too, on Industrial Road, can retain sole rights to the name.

The pact is also relying on the city to grant a liquor license and exotic dance permit to the club’s buyer, so the value of the club can be boosted. Without a liquor license, the club is valued at about $5 million — chump change compared to what it would be with the proper licenses. As of 15 months ago, with the licenses, the club was valued at $32 million.

Rinato said a lawsuit will soon be filed against the owners of the Crazy Horse 3, demanding that they give up that name.

After serving roughly 10 months in federal prison for tax evasion, Rizzolo was released in early 2008. As part of his guilty plea, Rizzolo was allowed to use proceeds from the sale of the gentleman’s club to satisfy tens of millions of dollars in debts he owes various parties.

Goodman said he didn’t know who the potential buyer is- and hasn’t asked.

Others who do know, include federal officials, but they aren’t talking.

Federal agents seized the Crazy Horse Too in September 2007. The following June, Pro criticized the marshals for not applying for a city liquor license and simply taking over the club.

At the time, the marshals said they didn’t want to run a strip club. Three months later they changed their tune, recognizing that they needed the licenses to get a higher sale price.

Las Vegas Nightclubs Gone Too Wild?

Even in wild, anything goes Las Vegas, apparently, there are limits on what can and can’t be done in nightclubs.

In July, gaming regulators slapped the Planet Hollywood casino with a $500,000 fine for its Prive nightclub’s bad behavior, including “topless and lewd activity” and dumping club-goers in the casino “in various states of consciousness.”

The same month, the Rio closed its Sapphire topless pool, managed by a local gentleman’s club, after authorities arrested 10 people on suspicion of prostitution and drug crimes. Over Labor Day weekend, eight more arrests on similar charges were made at the Hard Rock Hotel’s pool club party, Rehab.

It’s all part of a crackdown by Las Vegas authorities on what they see as clubs gone wild.

“The quarrel is not, ‘You guys are offering entertainment that’s going to offend Middle America.’ We all want to keep Middle America coming to us to have fun. But we have rules,” said Randall Sayre of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. During the heyday of the “What happens here, stays here” tourism campaign, the must-have accessory for any Las Vegas Strip casino was a pulsating nightclub that lured Hollywood starlets and drunken tourists willing to pay for a few hours of shimmer.

That has sometimes proved to be an ill-fated mix. Though the clubs are reliable moneymakers and publicity machines, some have vexed officials with their fraternity-style antics — including stripping contests, fistfights, and alleged drug use and sexual assaults.

In the last decade, smoky lounges on the Strip gave way to three-story mega-clubs and booze-drenched pool parties. Out on the cutting edge of trendy are clubs such as the bronze-walled XS, the centerpiece of casino magnate Steve Wynn’s resort Encore.

Most of the clubs, which pull in tens of millions of dollars from high-volume sales of alcohol and special seating, successfully keep thousands of tourists under control. But the venues, jostling for the same young crowd, have a penchant for envelope-pushing — and the casinos, Sayre said, have mostly kept their hands off the cash machines.

In the last two years, Clark County has warned clubs about a wet-boxer-shorts contest and women shedding shirts at events named “Lose the Tan Lines” and “Boobs or Bust.” Some clubs launched stripping contests; others tried to sneak around no-nudity ordinances by slathering women in body paint.

Many nightlife problems are far graver, however, which could prove problematic for casinos in the long run. Gaming regulators can hold them responsible for most anything that unfolds on their properties.

In 2006, the state Gaming Control Board told casinos it was concerned about reports of violent, excessively drunk and underage club-goers. In the last year, authorities have noticed an uptick in prostitution and narcotics crimes at Strip hot spots, said Officer Bill Cassell of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

But it was “Prive-gate” that truly rattled the town’s after-dark scene and it appears no end is in sight for the enforcement and creation of new clubbing rules to govern Las Vegas partygoers.

‘Peepshow’ in Las Vegas not for Camera Peeking

Scandalous photographs recently snapped at a risqué Las Vegas show have raised questions about technology versus security.

The photos were of performer Aubrey O’Day in topless revue “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood. AubreyODay

Between cameras and cell phones, pictures can be easily snapped and even full length movies can be recorded — causing rising concerns now to producers and performers.

The pictures taken were not suitable for children and were something the performer did not want to see surfacing on the Internet.

“I decided to call out tonight because of some nude photos that were illegally obtained last night at the show,” O’Day said.

O’Day cancelled an appearance earlier this week after the nude pictures circulated the Web. She later posted a video on YouTube addressing the candid photos.

“It made me feel bad. It made me insecure about my body,” O’Day said.

Security officials said they are not sure how the photos were captured. “We don’t allow any cameras in the theater,” said vice president of BASE Entertainment Marks Chowning.

But even with all the security detail and bag checks, many devices still do sneak inside.

Chowning works for the company that manages “Peepshow” and said it’s a problem that’s getting tougher to handle.  “It’s somewhat of a losing battle. As you know, the devices are getting smaller and better equipped with more technology,” Chowning said.

At almost every Las Vegas show, nude or not, recording is forbidden.  Knowing it’s almost impossible to stop everyone, “Peepshow” uses trained eyes and even night vision goggles to weed out clandestine photographers.

“We will be more aggressive about watching the audience. We will have the night vision goggles in use, and people who are found in violation of the policy will be ejected from the theater,” Chowning said.  “Really trying to protect what the women want protected, which is not having naked pictures of them strewn about the Internet,” Chowning said.

O’Day has since returned to “Peepshow” after sitting out one night. The show opened earlier this year.

Sextress Heidi Fleiss Trys to Go Clean, Winds Up Dirty- Again!

Even when Heidi Fleiss tries to go clean, the former ‘Hollywood Madam’ winds up getting dirty.

Days after Las Vegas Backstage Access reported on August 31 about her new pet gromming business venture, Fleiss and two business partners were sued by a man who claimed the business was purchased illegally!

The plaintiff, Jeffrey Marvian, originally opened the Little Buddy Bath pet groomer with his wife before the couple’s marriage soured and they planned to divorce. Court papers said the couple borrowed $60,000 against the equity in their home to pay for the business.

But Marvian claimed his wife, Nickol, sold “Little Buddy” to Fleiss and former porn star Kendra Rossi without his consent or knowledge.

To hide the sale, Marvian claimed his wife was paid nothing and instead entered into a deal to be featured in a reality television show that focused on Fleiss’ attempt to run the shop.

A judge has yet to hear Marvian’s complaint.

The lawsuit cited Fliess saying she is the owner of Little Buddy Bath but planned to change the name to “Dirty Dogs.” That name is similar to the “Dirty Laundry” moniker she gave to a laundromat Fleiss opened in Pahrump.

Fleiss insisted the name is just a play on words, and customers shouldn’t expect anything more than a professional service at both businesses.

“As far as the sex business goes, I have no interest in it. I know that business better than anyone. No one can run a sex business like me. I just have zero interest in it,” Fleiss said. “My feet are barely getting wet in this business, and I wish I would have been in this business from the start.”

Former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss Plots Dirty Dog Deeds with Porn Star Homey in Las Vegas

The former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss enjoys doing most anything dirty in Nevada.  Her dirty empire is now morphing, going to the dogs, with grandiose plans to grow it leaps and bounds.  Heidi Fleiss

dirtylaundryFirst, Fleiss gave a boost to Pahrump, Nevada tax revenues in 2007, and since, by opening her very successful Dirty Laundry coin-op laundromat business.  Now, she’s got a new plan– taking dead aim at cleaning all the dirty dogs in Las Vegas.

Fleiss is the new owner of a small dog grooming business located in a Kmart shopping center at Sunset and Sandhill roads in Las Vegas that offers everything from doggy dye jobs, nail polish pet-icures, to self-service stations where, if so inclined, you can wash your own dirty ol’ pooch.

They’re calling their business Dirty Dog, though the sign above the door still bears the business’ old name, Little Buddy Bath.

Kendra RossiFleiss’ business partner in the venture is Kendra Jade Rossi, left, a porn star and recovering sex addict who said she plans to regularly commute to Las Vegas from her home in Los Angeles.

Their place is open for business, but it’s a bit of a mess right now as Fleiss and company remodel with calming colors and distressed antique furniture meant to give it that “shabby-chic look.”  When they’re done, Fleiss hopes, their doggy salon is going to look like something you would find in a ritzy Los Angeles shopping area.

“But it’s going to feel in your pocket like you just went to Kmart,” Rossi said.

Fleiss got the dirty dog bug and decided to get into the grooming business after she attended PetSmart Inc.’s annual meeting in June and learned how much money people spend on their pets each year– to the tune of $6 billion!

“I wish I’d known about this before. I never would have gone into the sex business or any other business,” Fleiss quipped.

Fleiss went to the PetSmart meeting in New York City to speak on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has called on the retailer to phase out the sale of live birds.

Fleiss has always had a true, enduring love for all types of flesh, feathered and furred animals.  She developed a passion for parrots almost immediately after she moved to Pahrump in 2005 and inherited a menagerie of 26 of the exotic birds from her elderly neighbor.  She now shares her home with her feathered friends, letting them fly free without confining cages.

Fleiss originally moved to the town 60 miles west of Las Vegas to open a unique brothel for women called the Stud Farm, but she later abandoned that idea amid political pressure and excessive government red tape.  [Feb. 13 Las Vegas Backstage Access article.]

Fleiss and Rossi struck up an amiable friendship recently when they appeared together on the VH1 rehab reality show “Sober House,” where Fleiss went after soon-to-be-televised treatment for drug addiction.

“We formed our own little clique,” said Rossi, who runs an animal rescue in Los Angeles.

Fleiss said they bonded over their love of animals. “The way I am about birds, she is about dogs,” she said.

They are already talking about expanding the shop and adding boarding services and dog nutrition counseling. And that’s just the beginning.

“We don’t want one Dirty Dog, we want 100 Dirty Dogs,” Fleiss said, adding the pet industry looks like a can’t-miss proposition.

“Anything with animals does really well. Come on, people buy their dogs $8,000 Gucci sweaters,” she said. “People get over their mother or brother dying. They never get over their pet dying.”

So why should people trust their beloved pets to a madam and a porn star who just happily met each other in rehab?

“I changed my whole life for animals,” Fleiss said, adding her past is just that- the past.

Strippers Face Temporary Soft Times in Las Vegas

SapphireThe adult entertainment industry in Las Vegas has suffered yet another blow, as some dancers at Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club, the world’s largest gentlemen’s club, are being asked to put their clothes back on.   Last week the plug was pulled on the Sapphire pool retreat at the Rio.  The topless pool has been closed indefinitely, according to Rio’s management.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police spokesman Bill Cassell explained that they were invited in by Rio to perform a routine inspection of the adult pool party to insure operations were being run in accordance with current statutes.   Eleven arrests were made for prostitution-related activities by Sapphire personnel.  But since the visit was at the request of Harrah’s, which operates the Rio, it is quite unlikely that further operations or sanctions will occur related to the incident.

Thankfully, this isn’t all bad news for Las Vegas.  Yesterday, in the Hard Rock Hotel’s poker lounge, Sapphire’s had their well attended $5,000 poker tournament ($65 buy-in), with dancers strutting their proud plumage among the tables.  The gals even received free poker lessons, courtesy of the Hard Rock, according to Shai Cohen, Sapphire’s director of marketing.

The scantily clad strippers are also revving up blood pressures elsewhere, including Wasted Space each Thursday, providing the go-go eye-candy entertainment.

Then, tentatively scheduled for October, Sapphire’s will be having their third annual Ping Pong Palooza.

Speaking of balls flying at your face, ladies can always check out the Men of Sapphire revue on Fridays and Saturdays, if they’re tired of this talk about female dancers.

So, despite this pool-party hiccup, Sapphire should be fine, with a steady flow of customers coming through their club doors.

“When you see a [Sapphire dancer] out wearing clothes and she tells you she’s a stripper, you’ll want to come back to the club,” Cohen says.  “We sell fantasies. That’s our job.”

Carmen Electra Goes Topless in Las Vegas

When Carmen Electra bared all on the “Crazy Horse Paris” stage in Las Vegas last week, it wasn’t because she was told she had to, and it wasn’t because she had been asked to, either.

Electra tossed her pasties to the side and went completely topless because she wanted to.

“It felt so good,” Electra said. “No one was expecting it. It was a completely last-minute decision,” she explained, noting the full reveal was not part of the model-actress’ original plan. CarmenElectra

“I started off with a bra – a big bra – and a larger-sized panty,” Electra said, “(But) once I got here and had a chance to try on some of the costumes and get into some of the numbers, I decided to go with pasties, and then just yesterday right before the show … I was just backstage and they put the pasties on and I thought, no, let’s go without it, and I took them off and decided to just completely go for it.”

“I thought I would’ve been a little bit more nervous about showing so much,” the 37-year-old former Playmate said, “(But) it was very easy to decide (to do) … I felt really comfortable.”

Electra said her impulsive action had nothing to do with fellow topless show guest star Holly Madison’s decision to go topless during her stint as a guest star in “Peepshow.”

Like Electra, Madison’s pasty-free premiere at Planet Hollywood was subject of much will-she-or-won’t-she speculation before her debut last month. Rather than competition, however, Electra views Madison as a fellow entertainer and friend.

“There’s room for everyone,” the non-competitive and uncatty former Pussycat Doll said. “I’m such a girls’ girl; I support women and I think it’s great that she’s doing a show.”

Electra said joining the “Crazy Horse” cast has been a thrilling experience. “I’m just having a blast so far doing this,” she said.

“The dancers are so amazing, they’re so lovely,” the former “Baywatch” babe gushed. “They have the most perfect bodies and attitudes and they’re so much fun to work with.”

All Prostitution Doesn’t Involve Sex in Las Vegas

What do exotic and erotic Strip show performers do when not strutting their stuff in Las Vegas?  Strut some more, of course.

The 96-seat Onyx Theatre in Las Vegas, housed in the back of a sex show in the Commercial Center, is a fitting space for a new show called “The Art of Prostitution “ artofprostitution

However, “Prostitution,” created by Wassa Coulibaly, a dancer in Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity,” isn’t just about the physical aspects of the oldest profession.

Coulibaly, raised in a Muslim family in Senegal, says not all prostitution involves sex.  She considers “any love relationship that isn’t unconditional love” to be prostitution.

“There’s so many type of prostitutes.  Prostitution doesn’t just happen on the street corner, it happens in many forms.  When something is repressed, sexuality come outs in a distorted way,” says Coulibaly.

The performers for the show come for a variety of other Strip show, with the play beginning after they Monday shows, usually at 1 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Onyx Theatre, inside The Rack, at 953 E. Sahara Ave., Unit 16.  $20 admission.  More info:  www.onyxtheatre.com

Pimps Face Steep Fines in Las Vegas

Despite vetoing approximately 50% of the bills placed before him to sign, Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons is set to sign today Nevada Assembly Bill 380, which makes Nevada’s prostitution laws the strictest in the United States.

Las Vegas ranks second in the nation following Atlanta for having the most child prostitutes.

If a person is convicted of trafficking or pimping a minor between the ages of 14 and 18, they will be fined $100.000.  And if the person is under 14, the fine is $500,000.  The bill, which goes into effect on October 1, also allows for the freezing and forfeiture of assets.

Las Vegas Dummies Provide Recession Relief

So, what else is new for “anything goes” La Vegas?   For Alison Wainwright, founder and president of Las Vegas Mannequins, being creepy is just the solution she needed to not just defy and insulate her from the ravages of the recession, but experience rapid growth as well.

Although mannequins make the flesh crawl for many people, she has the distinction of having Las Vegas’ only full-service source for the purchase, rental and repair of mannequins, torsos, lower bodies, heads, glossies, poseables, plastic, fiberglass, faceless ciphers, and full-featured dummies.    Made in men, women, teens and children models, she even takes it one step further, offering “sexy mannequins,” which are “bigger.”

Some of her sales – full-size mannequins sell for between $150 and $330, with rentals for a only a little less – go to adult entertainment businesses and burlesque dancers who arrange their costumes on them.

Las Vegas police officers buy mannequins for use in car crash demonstrations, faux planted officers in cars to slow down drivers on freeways, and provide lifelike shooting targets.

Others use the creepy bits and pieces for Halloween displays and haunted houses.  Students like them for art projects and movies.  But far and away, the bulk of Wainwright’s business comes from conventions, especially clothing expos.

The convention business is where Wainwright started out in 2004.  Since then she has rented a storage unit, and then moved into a warehouse just west of the Wynn Las Vegas.

Sales have been up 100 percent, just as they have been every year since she opened.  And in the last two years her mannequins have made it possible to buy her a new house.

Las Vegas Adult Entertainment Club Class Action Lawsuit Claims Taxi, Limo Company Extortion, Illegal Kickbacks

A class action lawsuit filed on June 2 alleges a wide-ranging extortion scheme involving Las Vegas’ most prominent adult entertainment clubs and taxi and limousine companies.  The suit, which was filed in federal court in Las Vegas, alleges that taxi and limousine companies extorted more than $40 million in illegal kickbacks from local strip clubs.

According to the legal complaint, Las Vegas taxi and limousine drivers demanded payments from the clubs of as much as $100 per male passenger.  If the clubs refused to pay, the drivers would simply divert passengers to a different club. The lawsuit claims that the kickback scheme hurts Las Vegas at a time when the city is already suffering economically.

“Vegas has been one of the top tourist destinations in America for families, but its position is being threatened,” says Jay Edelson, lead attorney for the lawsuit.  “This is precisely the type of activity that keeps families away.”

As taxi drivers prefer to pick up men who are more likely to go to strip clubs, the suit claims that families and women were snubbed by drivers and found it hard to hail a cab at  night.  The suit also claims that millions of dollars in tax revenue have gone unpaid to the local, state, and federal government.

The allegations of a wide-ranging extortion scheme have been hotly discussed locally.  An recent expose by George Knapp, a nationally recognized Las Vegas  investigative reporter, found that cabbies routinely lied to  passengers—telling them that certain clubs are undesirable or unsafe (“riddled with bullet holes” was one description) in hopes of diverting them to a “paying” location.  After Nevada state  legislators attempted to put an end to this practice, the cab drivers responded by flexing their muscles.  They shut down the Strip and threatened to crash ground transportation at the airport.

“The vast majority of taxi and limo drivers are honest and hardworking people, but this minority has a stranglehold on the city,” says Edelson. “It is finally time to put this practice to an end.”

The suit is being brought on behalf of Theodore Trapp who lives in Southern California, and as a nationwide class. The suit names more than two dozen defendants including, Deja Vu Showgirls, Spearmint Rhino, Cheetah’s, Yellow Cab Co. and Checker Cab Co. It also references Tony Chong, an individual taxi driver who, according to the suit, has publicly admitted his involvement in the extortion scheme.

The Crazy Girls Show in Las Vegas Struts for U.S. Topless Domination

The Crazy Girls is a topless show showing plenty of bottoms at the Riviera Casino in Las Vegas.  But now they also want to spread their sin, taking their wares in a move across America.  While they are still appearing in their topless show atCrazyGirls the Riviera, a new Crazy Girls Cafe could perhaps be coming to a neighborhood near you.

Producer-owner Norbert Aleman is preparing to unveil the first Crazy Girls Cafe in the French Quarter in New Orleans.  Then he has ambitious plans set for a string of them from as nearby as Reno to as far away as Atlantic City, N.J.
