Cleopatra Dies in Las Vegas

Born in Tehran, Iran, Yvonne Mahvis Boreta was the original Cleopatra at the opening of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas when it opened in 1966.   Boreta, 64, passed away on June 3 in Las Vegas.  Besides working at Caesars, she was an accomplished painter, model and college graduate, becoming a full-time Las Vegas resident in 1974. 

Visitation will be June 10 from noon to 2 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following, both at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, in Henderson, Nevada.
