Las Vegas is Epicenter for National Economic News
A new Time Magazine cover story is out that depicts Las Vegas as going from being the epicenter of extravagant consumption to now being in the deepest crater of the recession.
Meanwhile, a report issued last week by Deutsche Bank said 81 percent of Las Vegas homes were underwater at the end of the first quarter — the fourth largest number in the nation. The report said that number would rise to 90 percent by 2011’s first quarter.
Such nationwide and worldwide press on Las Vegas hasn’t been seen since the economic boom of 2004 and 2005.

Las Vegas Says No to High-Flying Dining on the Strip
It looks like there will be no high flying dining on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.
The Clark County commissioners last Wednesday denied a local entrepreneur’s request to move his Dinner in the Sky business there. Michael Hinden’s company hoists patrons 160 feet high so they can get a good look at Las Vegas while dining.
Hinden’s business is currently off west Sahara Avenue, as was previously written in an article by Las Vegas Backstage Access. But there he can only operate a crane on Fridays and Saturdays. He says he needs a place where he can offer sky dinners nightly.
After getting resistance to his proposed location at the former New Frontier hotel, Hinden withdrew his request.
For a chance to sky dine, people pay $200 to be strapped into a seat at a dinner table that’s on a platform lifted into the air by a crane.

Ashton Kutcher Graffitis Roof of Las Vegas Casino
Actor and bad boy Ashton Kutcher was caught spray-painting a picture on to the roof of a Las Vegas casino/hotel.
The Spread star, who was visiting Las Vegas to celebrate stepdaughter Rumer Willis’s 21st birthday, painted a picture of a slot machine with the words ‘Lucky Me’ next to it on the roof of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
According to People Magazine, Kutcher asked the hotel owners for permission before the tagging stunt.
The star later reportedly wrote on his Twitter page: “Just tagged the roof of Planet Hollywood.”
Over the weekend, Kutcher’s cougar wife Demi Moore organised an Elvis impersonator to entertain her daughter on her big day. Bruce Willis, former husband to Demi Moore, and Audrina Patridge also attended the Las Vegas bash.
