Bally’s in Las Vegas will host today a life-size monopoly game to promote the Monopoly Advance to GO game on the Las Vegas Strip using a 25-foot by 25-foot Monopoly board set that uses human monopoly tokens (hat, dog, car, shoe, thimble, and more), complete with oversized Chance and Community Chest cards in play.
The promotion will be held in front of Bally’s on Monday, Oct. 19 on the front sidewalk at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd. and Flamingo Rd. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the Monopoly Advance to GO game, a nationwide promotion that selected 50 finalists to compete in the qualifying first round. Each finalist will be given a scroll. Five players will play for the $50,000 Advance to GO prize. The remaining forty five finalists will receive cash prizes based on the scroll they receive. Minimum prize is $500.
The Monopoly Advance to GO game is a partner event between Harrah’s Entertainment and Hasbro in conjunction with the Monopoly World Championships 2009. The championships are being held at Caesars Palace in the Forum ballroom in Las Vegas on October 21 and 22.
This marks the first time in 14 years that the games have been held in the U.S. the game is open to the public. Championship play at Caesars Palace is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 21 and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on October 22. The first 600 visitors each day will receive a free Monopoly World Championships t-shirt.
