Dead Las Vegas Topless Club May Miraculously Get Resuscitated

Christopher Condotti, a trucking company owner from Chicago, has just been approved by the United States Department of Justice to purchase the long defunct Crazy Horse Too topless bar and nightclub in Las Vegas for $10.5 million.

The extremely popular bar closed in July, 2007 and was once the haunt of porn star Jenna Jameson who used to strip there.   And the nightclub was frequented nightly by many celebrities and politicians.

The bar’s previous owner, ex-felon Rick Rizzolo, is still obligated to pay court ordered debts amounting to more than $17 million dollars including $10 million to beating victim Kirk Henry which must come totally from the sale of the bar.

However, the pending sale to Condotti (listed under CC Holdings LLC, where Condotti is manager) for less than $17 million leaves Rizzolo responsible for making up the deficit from his personal assets most likely hidden in the Cook Islands, according to court records.

Because of the club’s close proximity to other adult uses, it was grandfathered in and operated for many years on a Special Use Permit that expired in 2008 following the bar’sclosure by the City of Las Vegas based on it being a public nuisance.

The current sale is dependent on the Las Vegas City Council granting Condotti a change of zoning and a permanent liquor license according to the ASSET PURCHASE AGREEMENT, released on April 21.  The sale is contigent upon the club being granted several licenses, including a special-use zoning permit, a liquor license, a tobacco license and a retail sales license.  The deadline for getting those is Nov. 30, 2010.

Included in the Order of Forfeiture filed in 2008, and the following document filed in U.S. Federal Court on January 29, 2010, Rizzolo agreed to stand personally responsible to pay the difference in the event the Crazy Horse Too does not sell for an amount adequate to pay his court ordered debts. He did so in exchange for a feather light prison sentence.

Based on the current sale, it’s probable that Rick and Lisa Rizzolo’s hidden off shore assets will be seized to pay the deficit in the likely event Kirk Henry or the government prevails at a Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA) jury trial tentatively scheduled for September 2010.

The seizure is expected unless Rick Rizzolo’s attorneys can effectively convince the jury that their client is broke, and that he transferred half his assets to his ex-wife during a legitimate divorce that was finalized one month before he began plea negotiations, and following the filing of Mr. Henry’s personal injury lawsuit.  To see the full ASSET PURCHASE AGREEMENT, click here.

Booze & Boobs Las Vegas Recap

With many businesses in the Las Vegas economy having to rapidly reinvent and transform themselves just to stay afloat, Las Vegas Backstage Access thought you’d enjoy a quick staffing operations recap on booze and boob joints in Sin City.

For Las Vegas adult strip clubs the general rule is that for 18-and-over clubs you can see the barely-legal dancers completely in the buff, but – always a catch – they can’t serve you alcohol.

Now, if you want to drink alcoholic beverages, you’ll have to hit up a 21-and-over Las Vegas club for a lap dance and a cocktail; the dancers there are of legal drinking age as well. (The rare exception to the rule is the Palomino where—through a supposed deal Frank Sinatra made back in the Mob day—the club has 18-and-over fully nude dancers and serves alcohol.)

On the other paw, Déjà Vu Showgirls, has just made the switch from completely nekked and dry to 21-and-over, topless, and offering a full bar. And, to celebrate the change in these tough times, Déjà Vu marketing and promotions director Larry Beard says, “We will have free draught beer for a short time to promote the change to alcohol.”

While there was no official reason for the switch, according to Beard, if you still really want to see dancers completely in the buff, you can still do so at their sister property, Little Darlings.

Las Vegas Strippers Slither into Gooey Ice Cream Fray

Times are tough.  And wise businessmen know that without reinvention, their business death in imminent- or, for strippers, they lose the pole touch.  Knowing that, Little Darlings Strip Club in Las Vegas has just started experimenting with icy cold idea- free complimentary gooey sundaes with all the ‘toppings’ to all patrons every Sunday night.

But it doesn’t end there.  Heavens no. The real treat takes place when two lovely ladies are squished into a giant oversize glass situated at the center of the adult entertainment venue.  Canisters of whipped cream are then handed out to salivating patrons who are invited to build a sundae directly on the gals while they smother one another with gobs of ice cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and cherries.  After awhile, dollars fly into the sundae-making fray, making a mess beyond compare while boosting profits for the club and hostesses.

From all indications, the business promotion is a smashing success.  The only complaints are when the guys run out of whipped cream.

Strippers Strip Down Strip in Las Vegas

Even the men who hand out the alluring but tawdry “nude girls direct to your room” handbills stopped their hawking long enough to do some gawking at the “stripper-mobile” as it rolled down the Strip in Las Vegas.   Nearly everyone stopped to take notice. Stripmobile

The vehicle is akin to a small U-Haul truck but with Plexiglas surrounding the brightly lit cargo area instead of walls. In the middle is a gleaming stripper pole. Swinging around the pole is a scantily clad young woman. Two of her fellow strippers are in the back of the truck too, eagerly awaiting their turns.

It’s the ultimate new advertising vehicle that really draws in the business in Las Vegas, according to Larry Beard, marking director for Déjà Vu Showgirls. Having run the truck up and down the Strip late at night and into the wee hours for only the past 11 days, he claims it has doubled business at the all-nude Déjà Vu and Little Darlings gentlemen’s clubs.

If a couple of Clark County commissioners get their way, however, it might soon be a late, great idea. Arguing that state and county laws prohibit the use of a public right of way for advertising-only vehicles, as well as the possibility that the distracting nature of the “advertising” is such that it could cause accidents, commissioners plan to discuss it at this coming Tuesday’s board meeting.

“You could have 10 of them out there pretty quick and a million people just staring,” Commissioner Steve Sisolak said Tuesday. “We have to get a handle on it before it gets too out of hand.”

But inside the nearly soundproof rectangle that literally glows from a distance, Kay, 21, and Alyssa and Bella, both 20, were concerned about the pole slipping out of their hands. They balanced on clear-plastic high heels and laughed and posed. Their bikini tops and bottoms are skintight to try to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions during acrobatics on the pole.

Kay used a loudspeaker to urge onlookers to come see her sans clothing at Déjà Vu.

A young man in a passing SUV waved a fistful of dollars out his window. The double-takes spread like a wave through the pedestrians on the sidewalk.

“This is what Las Vegas is all about,” said Beard, marketing director for six business entities including Déjà Vu Showgirls, Little Darlings and Hustler Topless gentlemen’s clubs. “You come here to see something you can’t see anywhere else in the world.”

The reaction, and effectiveness of the advertising, “has been phenomenal,” said Fred Robertson, whose company, Rolling Ads, provides the truck. “Most people don’t pay attention to billboards. We go out and people are just waiting to see it.”

Beard said this is an alternative to paying huge tips to cabdrivers to bring in customers and all the legal hassle that is ensuing.

The adult strip clubs need this, they say. Business has been bad- really, really bad.

That argument probably won’t fly with some county commissioners, though.  Sisolak, for example, was spurred by a letter from a constituent, Ann Mueller, who told the Sun her grandson saw the stripper-mobile on Paradise Road around 5 p.m. Friday. (Beard said the truck usually only rolls from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. but went early that night to accommodate a TV news crew.)

Mueller said in her letter: “This is not only disgusting but very dangerous” because it could cause a traffic accident.

But nothing about the women or the truck is illegal, a Metro Police spokesman said. “As long as it’s not impeding traffic, it’s fine,” Officer Jacinto Rivera explained.

Clark Countty Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani contends that Metro police department doesn’t enforce the law on mobile billboards in public rights of way because officers don’t have the time.

“But just because no one has enforced it doesn’t mean it’s not the law,” she said. “I don’t care about the content or that they’re female dancers. I’m sick of the women, in fact — let’s get some men up there for once. But this is just illegal.”

Business owner Marla Letizia previously defeated efforts to outlaw her company’s mobile billboards. She finds the stripper-mobiles “disgusting,” however, and hopes commissioners ban them.

“They won’t say it, but this is truly about content,” Letizia said. “It’s time someone in the community has the guts to say this is about class and decency in our community.”

If that argument is made, it is unlikely to withstand a court challenge, lawyer Allen Lichtenstein said. “It’s a First Amendment issue and commercial speech is protected speech,” he explained.

The stripper-mobile would not qualify as obscene, indecent or harmful to minors — “there’s nothing illegal about it,” he said.

Then again, maybe there doesn’t need to be. County sources say some of the powerful owners of Strip properties want the stripper-mobile stopped.

Tommy Rocker Puts On His Rockin’ Shoes Again in Las Vegas

Tommy Rocker has been a Las Vegas club/restaurant owner and long time musician and entertainment fixture for decades- probably singing more Margaritaville ballads to locals and out-of-towners then Jimmy Buffet himself — and plucking more feelin’ good tunes from his guitar than his patrons drank Margaritas at his Cantina in Las Vegas. TommyRocker

So, it was no major surprise that about four years ago, during a talk after one of his trademark Saturday open-mic shows, Tommy Rocker (real name: Thomas Greenough) spun yet another euphoric and repetitive tale about how he was going to turn his Tommy Rocker’s Cantina into an adult club.  At which juncture, most patrons just so fit to call for another drink.

Remarkably, he’d held a topless-club license for years but had never taken advantage of using it to ostensibly draw in the big bucks. Then, about a year and a half later, in the summer of 2007, Rocker converted mere bravado into action, turning the one-time Parrot Head emporium on 4275 Dean Martin Drive, just south of The Rio into a gentlemen’s club.

But soon he found that even the lure of silicone boobies wasn’t enough to make him visit his business often, which was his usual modus operandi.  Inactions and neglect eventually translated into a suffering balance sheet, badly in need of life support and more than just mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, no matter how sexy the giver. The adult club was a good idea, in theory, but so not Tommy.

So Rocker decided to give up on his “gentlemen’s club” and switch back to his old open-mic, live music beach-club format that was attended regularly by a standing-room clientele.

“A couple of months ago, I found myself thinking, ‘I hate this bar. I hate coming here, and I own the place.’ I realized then it was time to change it back,” says Rocker.

And not any too soon.  On Sept. 9 Tommy Rocker’s Cantina & Grill, received 19 demerits including violations for slimy and spoiled mushrooms.

Under his new business name, Tommy Rocker’s Mojave Beach Bar & Grill, he’s not only vowed to clean up his food act but has scheduled a comedy night (Cozy’s Comedy Corner, the first Friday of every month, inadvertently giving First Friday more competition), his own sing-along show Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. and country night with Seth Turner at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, followed by open mic with Las Vegas singer/songwriter Joey Vitale.

The grand reopening and 20th anniversary for Rocker’s business in Las Vegas is Oct. 3.

This is a good thing. This is a very good thing. Tell your friends.  The conga line forms to the left.

Las Vegas Topless Strip Clubs Rain Cash-For-Customers

As former topless cabaret mogul and government informant Michael Galardi walks the Las Vegas Strip schmoozing and looking for a new gig, a high-stakes strip poker match of a different type is agressively being played out at many Las Vegas topless adult entertainment clubs.

Long a “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” accepted business practice, Las Vegas strip clubs handsomely tipped cabbies that delivered lusty patrons to their doorstep.  Fifty bucks was the norm for over a decade.strip-clubs1

Until now.

As home prices and sales continue to plummet and people try to find jobs or at least hold on to their employment, many Las Vegas topless strip clubs have seen fit to double the cab tip ante to at least $100 per customer.   That new ransom could equates to an average estimated payout of $5 million a year by each participating strip club.  A C-note buy in for participating in the cash-for-customers game is commonly paid by Ricks’ Cabaret Gentlemen’s Club, Treasures, Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club, and many more- at least the ones that aren’t secretly looking for new owners or staving off their bankruptcy.

No end appears in sight for the advancing Taxi Topless War.  Many clubs are trying to recoup rising “acquisition” costs by charging higher cover charges and drink prices.   Rick’s CEO and President Eric Langan mirrors the intentions of many strip club owners, saying he has no intention to be outbid by his Sin City bretheren and is willing to write off the expenses as the cost of marketing.

As Las Vegas cab and limo drivers rake in record amounts of dough, they’re also arguing more with doormen to cut ever higher deals.   And it’s not uncommon to see cab drivers pass up picking up ladies waiting for a ride on the street in favor of waiting gents that can bring them more revenue.

Casino hosts, too, are also rapidly buying in to the very lucrative cash-for-customers game.   They’re not just referring their clients to the strip clubs, but hosting them inside the caverns of lust.

And, of course, you can bet your last dollar that the IRS will eventually come sniffing around and look for its due.

Recession hitting the Las Vegas topless clubs?  Pshaw!

Changing of the Guard for Las Vegas Burlesque Shows

In Las Vegas the only real certainty is uncertainty itself.  Entertainment acts change, shows come and go.  And G-string revues are as much a part of the Las Vegas entertainment fabric as gambling itself.  Some say they harken way back to the days of the Dunes Hotel & Casino where it was fashionable to head out and watch the glamorous shows.  Fast forward to today, even the hugely popular sex goddess and entrepreneur Tera Patrick is contemplating a switch from a steady diet of porn to burlesque in Las Vegas.

Following the footsteps of “Lido” that closed in 1991 after 32 years, this Saturday, March 28 after 49 years the iconic “Folies Bergere” burlesque revue at the Tropicana in Las Vegas will sadly go dark forever after performing 29,000 shows- along with the feathered showgirls the the style, spirit, and very essence of classic Las Vegas entertainment.

But, even if you’re not one of the lucky 100 people that got a ticket for the final Folies show or one of the 750 invited guests and alumni, there’s still hope.

You can still watch  sexy cabaret revues like “Fantasy,” “Crazy Girls,” “X Burlesque,’ or the full-blown old-Vegas style revue “Jubilee!,” that’s been going since 1981.   Then there is  the female attraction of  “Men of X at Hooters.”

But if you are game for a brand new Las Vegas burlesque treat you might want to catch the first previews of “Peepshow” that start on March 30 and run through April 17 at Planet Hollywood.  Billed as a “modern contemporary burlesque” the sexy show features Scary Spice Girl Mel B. (Melanie Brown) and “Dancing With the Stars” champion Kelly Monaco, who also played on “General Hospital” and posed for Playboy- watching them perform alone is worth the price of admission – and a cast of 29 principals, tightly choreographed dancers, and a band of all female musicians.  peepshow

Neither Mel B nor Monaco will be topless, but several of the dancers will be for the cabaret show.  Mel B plays Peep Diva, the mistress of the ceremonies, and Monaco is Bo Peep, who falls asleep in a short movie that starts the show.

Broadway director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell says, “It really isn’t a musical because there isn’t really a written book and scenes that string the show together in that sense.  It’s a story told through song and dance.  It’s really modern day burlesque.  We’ve taken song and dance and the arte of striptease to tell a story.”

BASE is producing the Las Vegas show.  Architect David Rockwell (“Phantom, the Las Vegas Spectacular”) designed the lavish set.  And Greg Barnes, who won a Tony Award for “The Drowsy Chaperone,” is creating the costumes.

The music includes Michael Bubble’s “Feeling Good,” Connie Francis’ “Teddy,” Madonna’s “Hung Up,” and original tunes by Andrew Lippa.

“We took the bones of what I created in New York and tailored it for the Las Vegas market,” says Mitchell. “We couldn’t do this show in New York City.  This is a Las Vegas show, for sexy adult men and women who want to go out together and have an amazing time.  We’re not trying to pound anything over anyone’s head.”

Mitchell says he doesn’t want to reveal too much else about the show.

“I don’t want to be coy, but isn’t that the fun of striptease- what you don’t see as opposed to what you see?” says Mitchell.  “It’s one of the things I think is desperately missing here in Las Vegas and something I’m a huge fan of- the right time to take it off.  It’s about how you take it off.”

Tickets range from $65 to $100 and previews for the tale with a tease start on Monday, March 30 through April 17 at the showroom at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas (702-785-5000).

‘Stripper 101’ Classes Spin-‘N-Slide into Las Vegas

Being naughty in Sin City has just gained another notch for its bedpost.  In a bid to conjure up and offer new and exciting exercise routines to stay fit – and, in the process, find a creative solution to counteract our stagnant economy – many Las Vegas boutique gyms have begun offering pole dancing classes.   pole-dancing

Capitalizing on this trend, Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has a new twist: Offering its hotel guests and local residents the opportunity to experience soothing, soul-renewing music in a dimly-lit, swank atmosphere, the refreshing camaraderie of a hassle free, glow-in-the-dark pole date, and, as a innocuous by-product- be transformed svelte and fit in their new “Stripper 101” class in the V Theatre in the Miracle Mile Shops.   Glow pole dancing has arrived.

Catering to the budding pro and recreational spin-‘n-slider to-be, this women only class (sorry guys) consists of a full sexy striptease cardio workout in a Las Vegas nightclub atmosphere.   With no prior experience required,  training classes conducted by Pole Experts provide how-to’s for turning lap dancing tricks, er…techniques (ala colorful boas), proper pole handling methods, and, since this is in Las Vegas, after all- cocktails are served for the ultimate cool-down.

Think this is merely for show-and-tell?  Think again- the full body workout burns off 300 to 400 calories per hour (minus the cocktail).

The growing socially acceptable classes are rapidly become the in meeting place for bachelorette and birthday parties too.  The draw is in part because of it’s inferred naughty vibe, but also because this is an exercise class that doesn’t force exercising by using traditional methods.

Class reservations are recommended (click for info), though, and attendees must be 18 years of age or older.  Packages, which can include commemorative T-shirts and even group and individual souvenir photos, range from $40 – $60. And, for the price of a ticket, those who want to celebrate the day but not trip-the-hip-fantastic may elect to crash the classes to just cheer on their friends and family.
