Sean “Diddy” Combs Las Vegas Appearance Causes Red Carpet Cancellation

During Saturday’s Shane Mosely and Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s after-fight hosting appearance by Sean “Diddy” Combs at Eva Langoria’s Parker’s Eve nightclub in Las Vegas, the crowd was so huge at Crystals (CityCenter) that management was forced to cancel the red carpet event to ensure fan safety.

“There are 6,000 people outside Eve now,” Diddy tweeted.

Among the attendees:  TI, Gabrielle Union, Swizz Beatz and Nelly.

Meanwhile, dining at Eva Langoria Parker’s Beso Restaurant (CityCenter), Paris and Nicky Hilton were spotted, who later partied at Tao (The Venetian), while down the Strip, Mya hosted the evening at Pure nightclub (Caesars Palace).

Famed producer and musician Emilo Estefan told The Associated Press that the award was special to him because it is the first time he and his wife have received a star as a couple, and it comes from Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Vs. Shane Mosely Las Vegas Slugfest

Floyd Mayweather Jr. , on left, is undefeated, a six-time world champion and perhaps the biggest draw in boxing.

Shane Mosley is a great champion who’s past his prime and probably couldn’t carry a pay-per-view card by himself.

However, it’s Mayweather who has the most to prove from Saturday night’s welterweight bout in Las Vegas (HBO Pay-Per-View). He’s arguably the most-skilled boxer in the world.

Instead of that distinction drawing him praise, Mayweather is reviled for his defense-first style, as well as his big mouth.

He prides himself on being the greatest ever (in large part to his 40-0 record) and at the same time he’s in a slugfest to be considered the best boxer today.

Manny Pacquiao ostensibly holds that crown as much for his recent accomplishments as his penchant to be a warrior in the ring. Courage is what separates Mayweather and Pacquiao in many people’s perceptions — with Pacquiao being a gusty fighter while Mayweather hits and runs.

Only time will tell who will emerge victorious.

Michael Jackson had a Gay Lover?

Since his death last year, every nutjob has come forward claiming to be Michael Jackson’s kid/wife/sperm donor/spiritual vessel.  So it’s surprising it has taken this long for anyone to put their hand up and say they were his gay lover.

Jason Pfeiffer, a heavyset man in his mid-30s, was the former assistant to MJ’s dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein and now has come forward claiming he was the Pop King’s boyfriend.

Dr. Klein claims he saw the couple together while Jackson was shirtless, adding, “When you see two people looking at each other you know what’s happening. I was just very happy for both of them.”

Klein, a lontigme confidant of Jackson’s, was rumored to be the biological father of the singer’s two older children, Prince and Paris.

Pfeiffer, now a CEO of a medical company, says he began a “passionate and sexual” relationship with Jackson shortly after they met in 2008 in Klein’s office and continued up until Jackson’s death last June.

“We were very close,” Pfeiffer reveals in an exclusive interview last night with “Extra” entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs. “I know we loved each other. I know he told me that all the time. I told him that all the time. I believe that he was probably my soul mate,” said Pfeiffer.

The two reportedly bonded while talking about their childhoods.

“We were just sitting there and we both started to cry and I got up and went over to him and said it’s going to be okay Michael… We hugged,” Pfeiffer adds. “And it was kind of then that the hug was a little bit more. It wasn’t until a few months later that it was obvious that Michael had feelings for me as well.”

As to Michael’s denials that he was gay, Pfeiffer says, “I just assumed that he was probably bisexual.”

Pfeiffer believes Michael would approve of him setting the record straight.

Cirque du Soleil’s New Michael Jackson Show in Las Vegas

Cirque du Soleil has confirmed months of rumors and announced plans to unveil a Michael Jackson-based show in 2011 in Las Vegas. Shows, actually—there will be two of them.

The first, a touring arena show, will debut next fall and get “an extended run” in Las Vegas before the permanent Jackson show opens in late 2012.

Assuming none of the existing shows—KÀ, The Beatles Love, O, Mystère, Zumanity, Believe or Viva Elvis—don’t close between now and then, the incoming MJ spectacle will make the eighth resident Cirque show in Las Vegas.

Cirque is keeping tight-lipped about where the show will be housed, among other facts, but its promised “special lifestyle projects, including a nightclub.”  Rumors say the show will be at Mandalay Bay.

The new show announcement comes less than a year after Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009.

Michael Jackson’s estate will receive royalties from the projects—but it will also share in half the costs of “creating, developing, building and producing” the shows, too.

The size and scope of the Cirque show will be unprecedented, including larger than life 3-D technology and most likely the largest budget for any Las Vegas show.

Kim Kardashian Bares All- Naturally!

Kim Kardashian just loves showing up for red carpets and partying in Las Vegas, especially Jet nightclub in The Mirage– that is unless she’s got a better offer to take it all off!

If you’ve ever wanted to see Kim Kardashian au natural, you’re in for a treat.  She stripped down totally nude for a photo shoot that is in the May 2010 issue of women’s magazine Harper’s Bazaar.

The photo is untouched, i.e., there’s no airbrushing involved. It seems this is becoming a Hollywood trend. Jessica Simpson recently did it for Marie Claire and Brittney Spears released both an airbrushed and untouched photo of herself for a Candies ad.  But Kardashian trumps them because she was totally nude.  Who knew celebs wanted us to feel better about ourselves and let us know it’s ok to be au natural?

The jet-setting Kardashian likes taking it off in other ways, too.  Last week the former Playboy model, 29, was spotted making out with Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, 25, in a top restaurant after she watched him play for Spanish team Real Madrid. Then, after dining, she quickly followed Ronaldo to his mansion and discretely disappeared for a few hours.

But that was last week. Yesterday, shortly after her long and luxurious Beverly Hills mani/pedi, Kardashian headed to LAX and is en route to Australia- as she excitedly tweeted earlier today: “Australia here we come!!!!”  Who knows what new mischief she’ll be getting into…?

Pamela Anderson’s Terrible Plight

What’s that saying about all that glitters?   Pamela Anderson (her photo serving food to the needy is on our Las Vegas Backstage Access masthead), who was once a regular celebrity fixture at Las Vegas nightspots and ex-girlfriend to Tommy Lee, has largely vacated the  nightclub scene. Now we may know why…

News of Pamela Anderson’s ever-worsening financial situation is upstaging news of a possible “Dancing with the Stars” comeback, as details about her tax bill have come to light.

In one of the most alarming reports yet for the blond bombshell (and that’s saying something), the state of California announced this week that Anderson owes a whopping $493,000 in delinquent income taxes.

Rumors about Anderson’s financial woes are nothing new. About six months ago, reports surfaced claiming that Anderson owed over $1 million to contractors she’d hired to renovate her Malibu, California home.

Anderson countered by saying her lawyers were “reviewing the work done” to investigate the possibility of unfair bills, and that while she was indeed the subject of tax liens to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars, she was still ”financially secure.” She even waxed rhapsodic about her temporary digs, a double-wide trailer at the beach.

Reports have called Anderson’s chipper claims into question, as have a number of unglamorous appearances she’s been making as of late. A few months ago, she made a promotional appearance at a Pennsylvania Rite-Aid to hawk her new fragrance, Malibu. In February, she pitched her products to shoppers at a Southern California Sears. Last week, she attended the “launch” of a milkshake.

But, for now, she still has “Dancing” to keep her busy. Anderson recently took to her Facebook page to rave about how transformative her stint on the ABC show has been.

“I feel like I’ve gone from ‘Baywatch’ to this,” she gushed. “The last 15 years have just disappeared (in some respects).”

Keith Emerson and Greg Lake to Perform in Las Vegas?

Maybe yes, maybe no.  The duo from the classic rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer has planned their “Unplugged Tour” for the Las Vegas Hilton for April 24.  But, hold on… to date, the group has had a very rocky start and have cancelled their prior U.S. shows due, as they say, to “musical and technical reasons.”  Keep your fingers crossed- and toes!

Paris Hilton Dumps Beau, Parties Crazy in Las Vegas

Paris Hilton usually always goes crazy when she’s in Las Vegas.  Even the recent dumping of her boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt – again – didn’t dampen her spirit one iota.  She danced on tables all night long Saturday and until Sunday morning in Las Vegas.

Hilton got her party on first at the Wet Republic pool at the MGM Grand during the day on Saturday and then for her grand coup de grace proceeded to Tao at The Venetian, hanging out with her sister Nicky and her sister’s long-term boyfriend, David Katzenberg, and equally controversial tablemates NFL star Reggie Bush and Oscar winner Jamie Foxx.

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access, Paris Hilton has had no takers for her proposed new reality television show.

It happened: American Idol contestants invaded Las Vegas!

What Las Vegas Backstage Access reported yesterday, came true:  Season 9 “American Idol” finalists were spirited quietly away on an overnight trip to Las Vegas.

On Friday the finalists arrived and took in Cirque du Soleil’s “Viva Elvis” show and then they took over the stage on Saturday for a critique and mentoring by Adam Lambert, Season 8 “Idol” runner-up.

Lambert flew in from Vancouver to meet the contestants, who rehearsed Elvis hits such as “Viva Las Vegas.” Lambert told them not to be afraid to jump out of character.

Season 9 finalist Crystal Bowersox was standoffish at the Friday meetup, eating by herself at the Aria buffet as other fellow contestants ate together.

No photos were released of the “Viva Elvis” event and security personnel went so far as to temporarily confiscate cell phones for most of their three-hour stay in the Elvis theater at Aria.

The “Idol” contingent left about 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Meanwhile, across town at Sam Boyd Stadium, Season 8 winner Kris Allen tweaked Lambert during Pet-a-Palooza, which drew an estimated 28,000 happy four-legged beast owners {also reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access yesterday}.

Wayne Newton Lands New Reality TV Show

Long dubbed “Mr. Las Vegas,” veteran entertainer Wayne Newton has landed his first reality TV show, which will focus on the women who run his life, both on and off stage.

The iconic singer who has performed for over 40 years and in over 30,000 solo shows in Las Vegas will front the new show on American cable channel WeTV.   Release timing is being worked out.

Tentatively titled, “Wayne’s World,” the show will feature his wife and attorney Kathleen McCrone, her sister Trisha McCrone and Newton’s publicist and his 7-year-old daughter, Lauren.  Even his mother-in-law, Marilyn, will make an appearance – she runs the star’s merchandise empire.

The announcement of the show comes after a super bad start to 2010 for Newton – his wife filed court papers in February in a bid to keep her assets separate from those of her financially-troubled husband, and his adopted daughter, Erin, suffered liver, kidney and respiratory failure and fell into a coma after giving birth to the star’s grandchild.

The health crisis forced Newton to pull out of a series of lucrative engagements, so he could be close to his sick daughter, who is now on the road to recovery.

Las Vegas police descended upon his Sin City ranch, while he was at his daughter’s bedside at the end of February, to try to collect court judgments relating to a bank loan Newton reportedly reneged on.

Newton has blamed years of bad money management by his team of advisors for his financial troubles.

He also has been accused of failing to pay storage fees to keep his private jet in a hanger at the Oakland County International Airport in Michigan.

Paris Hilton has No Takers for TV Show

The Simple Life is not simple anymore for Paris Hilton.

Paris Hilton`s latest idea of making a new reality show on her personal life has found no takers among TV executives pitched from many channels.  It appears that television brass doesn’t care about her, leading many to say her audience appeal is vanishing at warp speed.

Pop socialite, Hilton heiress and consummate Las Vegas partier, once being the center of tabloid action with millions of fans, had been planning a new reality television show to revive her sagging career, covering her engagement and wedding to current boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.

In the past, the 29-year-old has found a modicum of success as a porn star, subject of a homemade sex tape, and in several reality shows. But the pop tart has failed miserably in legitimate movies- her name in the credits usually guarantees that a film won’t be taken seriously.

Of course, the current rekindling of former BFFs Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie just might do the trick.  After a long absence, the duo was recently spotted last week seriously chatting up some scheme at Victoria’s Secret 15th Swimsuit Anniversary in Beverly Hills.

Other viable options for Hilton could be to continue to seek out and walk red carpets – for a reduced fee – or do infomercials- IF execs see the products would benefit from her endorsements.

Could Paris Hilton morph into the female incarnate of deceased supreme huckster Billy Mays?

Katherine Heigl’s Wardrobe Malfunction in Las Vegas Saved by Billy Bush

Yet another celebrity fell into the trap of a heartbreaking wardrobe malfunction, right on the red carpet.  Following the infamous footsteps of the likes of Amy Winehouse and a host of others, this time it was the turn of “The Ugly Truth” star Katherine Heigl, who recently reported she will be leaving Grey’s Anatomy.

Heigl is a lot on the news lately, what with the image makeover she recently underwent, sporting her all new long dark tresses. Few days back, though, she hogged all the limelight for all the wrong reasons. However, what could have been a really awkward and embarrassing situation was turned into no more than a fashion goof up blip, thanks to her smartness and that of her friend, Billy Bush.

The incident occurred during the ShoWest Award ceremony in Las Vegas. Katherine Heigl had been vetted as the Female Star of the Year. As she went up to the stage to receive the award and give her acceptance speech, the strap of her beautiful red dress, the one on her left shoulder, broke, almost baring her left breast, but held in place just in time by the actress.

However, one cannot deny that the “27 Dresses” star did manage the embarrassing situation with star-like dignity and aplomb. Not letting the strap of her dress fall from her shoulders even once, and displaying not an iota of embarrassment or awkwardness, she smartly went with her speech, holding on to the broken strap of her dress, and soon, the host of the award ceremony, Billy Bush, came to her rescue.

While Katherine Heigl finished her speech, Billy Bush valiantly raced to her aid, holding on to her strap as he stood behind her, away from the view of the prying paparazzi cameras.

Michael Jackson’s Furniture Planned for Las Vegas Auction

The Gloved One is among a very select group of artists who posthumously remain major wage earners. Nine months after his death, Sony Music Entertainment is paying the the estate of Michael Jackson between $200 and $250 million to release 10 recordings over the next seven years- reportedly the largest ever paid for such a deal.

Adding to his estate’s wealth, 22 items of furniture that were hand-picked for Michael Jackson’s home in Kent, London,  accompanying  his “This is It”  concert series, are going up for auction in Las Vegas, as well as his iconic jeweled gloves.

Some of the items on the auction block include a nine-seat gilt sofa in carved solid wood with red velvet cushions, a 17th century writing desk inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a pair of sunglasses, a military jacket that he wore when he married wife Debbie Rowe in 1996, and Jackson’s white Swarovski Crystal Glove, estimated to go for at least $30,000.

The auction is at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas starting on June 25, and lasts three days, and will also feature other items for sale from other iconic figures in the music industry.  Some of the proceeds will go to benefit MusiCares charity and Joshua’s Heart, both charities.

David Hasseloff Making a Comeback?

Could the aging former “Baywatch,” “Knight Rider,” and “America’s Got Talent,” television demigod be trying to reclaim his former glory?

Trashing those late night sordid drinking and hamburger affairs, “The Hoff,” appears for now, to be sloshing onward and upward.

His namesake Knight Rider Festival will be hosted in Las Vegas this weekend.   And, different than the first festival last year, this one will be graced by his presence. Hasselhoff plans to be at the festival on Fremont Street Experience on the First Street Stage tonight at 5 p.m., ushered in by Elvis impersonator Paul Casey, who created the Las Vegas event, dressed up as The Lone Ranger and riding up the street on a white horse signifying,  Casey says, the original “Knight Rider” television show’s intent of being a modern-day version of the “The Lone Ranger.”

Following Casey and his white knight horse will be a parade of 20 K.I.T.T. cars from the series.  The first one will be driven by Jack Gill, the main stunt driver for the series.

Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as “The Most Watched TV Star in the World,” Hasselhoff, who has been on television for more than 30 years, will be joined in the Las Vegas event by television show creator Glen Larson and actors Ann Turkel and Justin Bruening.

Allegedly, there will also be a drive-through wedding chapel with K.I.T.T. serving as best man.

Then it’s off to London for Hasseloff, where the WWE is having him guest host WWE Monday Night RAW on April 12.

And while that’s going on, the fun-loving-in-excess actor, who has also morphed into an internationally renowned singer receiving incredible kudos for his singing skills, especially in Europe, will be on a concert tour in Europe.

Hasselhoff is also on the road of making other endeavors a success too.

The folks at Abercrombie & Fitch hope are banking on the brand and image appeal of The Hoff to change their fortunes in the United States.   So far, the traveling salvation show is working- his image is increasing sales revenue by 5 percent, while many of their industry competitors are down by 5 percent.

A&E also sees the shining rebounding light of Hasseloff, hiring him for a 10-epsisode deal for a new reality show with his two daughters. The docu-series, currently unnamed, slotted to air later this year, will take a behind-the-scenes look into the life of  The Hoff focusing on his multiple entertainment and business endeavors, as well as his most important role as a single dad trying to help his teenage daughters’ break into the recording industry.

The Knight Rider Festival is March 19-20, all day, free.  Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegaswww.knightriderfestival.com

Farrah Fawcett Planned to Reunite with ex-hubby Lee Majors on Stage in Las Vegas

According to Lee Majors’ manager Denny Bond,  the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star – who lost her battle with cancer last June – had been in secret talks about joining Lee on stage in a Las Vegas production ‘Love Letters.’

The pair – who separated after six years of marriage in 1979 and had been estranged for two decades – would have played two ex-lovers who spend their entire lifetime trying to get back together.

“We had many discussions with Lee and Farrah and we had planned on a Las Vegas opening and doing a Los Angeles charity performance for her soon to be established cancer foundation as the kick-off,” said Bond.

The show would have been produced and directed by Craig Nevius, the controversial filmmaker who is currently being sued by Farrah’s estate over claims he leaked confidential information about the actress to the media.

The filmmaker confirmed he was going to be involved with the play, and says Farrah was very “excited” about the possible reunion.

“‘Love Letters’ was the perfect stage play for the two of them. Lee would have played a conservative, no-nonsense politician who had been in love with his childhood sweethear for decades.  Farrah would have played his childhood sweetheart who grew up to be an eccentric, free-spirited artist. Farrah had a lot of ideas. She was excited about the whole thing. So was Lee,” said Nevius.

Although the pair never got the opportunity to work together again, Lee was in contact again with Farrah just before her death.

Amy Winehouse’s Plans to Remarry Former Jailbird Husband Blake Fielder-Civil in Las Vegas Faces Immigration Trouble

Amy Winehouse’s plans to remarry former jailbird husband Blake Fielder-Civil in Las Vegas are at risk of running into trouble with American immigration authorities.

U.S. Embassy officials in London may grill the British singer’s ex to reach a decision on his U.S. entry following his 2008 conviction for grievous bodily harm, which landed him a jail sentence.

Immigration sources claimed it is “highly unlikely” that Blake would be given a go ahead. “Anyone convicted of a serious violent offence will be given short shrift when it comes to trying to enter the States,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

“It does not matter about his plans for getting married in Las Vegas. U.S. immigration chiefs are extremely scrupulous when it comes to serious misdemeanours,” the source added.

First Tiger Woods’ Mistress Rachel Uchitel Moves to Las Vegas to Restart Career

Rachel Uchitel, the VIP hostess with the mostest, whose alleged affair with golfing icon Tiger Woods was the flashpoint of the recent epic scandal, has apparently moved to Las Vegas to restart her career.

Uchitel has moved into a Turnberry Place tower in Las Vegas where she purchased a ground-floor unit for $820,000 in 2006.

Recent reports have Uchitel, who worked the velvet ropes for clubs in Las Vegas, New York and Southhampton, N.Y., getting involved now in the entertainment television field. She reportedly has been offered a job as a nightlife reporter with “Extra,” the nationally syndicated entertainment television show.

Sources at Turnberry Place say she has leased her 1,556-square-foot luxury condo and is renting a nearby unit. Uchitel recently pulled her ground-floor unit at Turnberry Place off the market. Vegas Confidential reported in December that she had listed the property at $1.35 million.

Uchitel formerly worked at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas but had a falling out well before she was linked to Woods.

Uchitel was the first of about 20 or so mistresses to surface in the Woods scandal that broke during Thanksgiving weekend.

Kim Kardashian Stylin’ & Marketing Non-Stop in Las Vegas

Kim Kardashian looked her very buxom best at the launch of her very first fragrance at the Tao nightclub in the Venetian in Las Vegas on Sat., Feb 27.

Kardashian wore a form-fitting, low-cut beige-and-black number with matching black heels. She paired it up with hair worn down and neutral colors on the face.

While we think it’s an odd choice of colors to wear to an evening event, we’ll let it slide, seeing as she’s usually on the money! Let’s hope her new fragrance is too.

Kardashian showed up at the party escorted by her mother, Kris, and celebrity publicists Simon Huck and Jonathan Chaven.

It’s been a very busy week for K-ster, who previously tweeted Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek, plugged her fragrance on the sets of QVC shopping channel and met up with beau Reggie Bush at the salon.

Proving she has all the right stuff, she appeared chipper early next morning, Sunday, when she popped out of bed with the chickens to attend the NASCAR opening cermemonies at the Shelby American race in Las Vegas, rooting her namesake’s car on.

Her touted fragrance, named simply Kim Kardashian, is a provacative, heady mix of tuberose, gardenia, and jasmine and is packaged in a circular black bottle. It is available exclusively at Sephora retail stores and QVC.

‘Queen’ Celine Dion Saves Las Vegas Single-Handedly

Let’s face it:  Celine Dion operates like a city within Las Vegas.    When many performers are looking to hang it up, or at least slow down, Dion, 41, who started singing professionally when she was 12, churns full speed ahead with no end in sight.

Keeping a relative secret for over a year, Dion recently officially revealed that she is returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on March 15, 2011 with an all-new show and a three-year contract, while planning to stay in her Lake Las Vegas home.    Tickets are now available.

During her last five-year reign at Caesars, a custom-built Colosseum was completed for her at a cost of $95 million, who then proceeded to sell more than 200 million copies of her 25 albums in French and English.   The queen singer also drew celebrities galore into Las Vegas, refreshing the entertainment scene like few others before her.  Most can’t wait for her Las Vegas comeback.

Her Las Vegas show, A New Day, took in more than a whopping $400 million at the box office and in merchandise, and the production employed hundreds – the 50 dancers, musicians and others visible onstage were just the half of it.

It has been announced that she’ll be employing 31 musicians, a full orchestra and a band.   Not bad for a city starving for any economic bumps it can get.

Talking about bumps, after four unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization, Céline Dion is not giving up hope for a second child, with her husband, Rene Angelil, 26 years her senior.

“I’m going to try until it works,” says Dion, who continues giving herself daily hormone shots — and enduring the roller-coaster ride of emotions they bring — after the heartbreaking loss of a pregnancy in August and three other failed IVF attempts last fall.

Elvis Presley Comes Back to Las Vegas

And you thought he was…dead?  Pshaw!  Elvis performed his last show in Las Vegas and now is back to his old Sin City haunts, if only in spirit.  But his show will, hopefully, run forever.

Viva Elvis premiered on Feb. 19 and is the seventh Cirque du Soleil show on the Las Vegas Strip. It is one of the centerpieces of the new $8.5 billion MGM Mirage CityCenter, located in a new theater in the Aria Hotel and Casino.

Viva Elvis features all of his greatest hits set to music and embellished with spectacular sets and effects, dancing and acrobatics. It positively fills the eyes-all the time steering clear of the somber and darker sides of Elvis, thanks to the untiring efforts of Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley Enterprises to protect the Elvis legacy.

This is a spectacularly beautiful show and it is one of only two Cirque shows in Las Vegas to employ a proscenium stage rather than using a theater-in-the-round setup.

There are other singers, but the only male voice belongs to The King himself. The evening opens witha huge video-jukebox. On the screen is Elvis singing Blue Suede Shoes. It’s light, fun and immediately gets the audience in the mood for more of his music. Don’t Be Cruel is next, followed by Junior Clay, the only actor in the show. He is Elvis’ manager, Col. Tom Parker. He comes out to explain that Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth and Elvis missed his twin his entire life. Thus he introduces the next number, One Night– a love song, more shouted than sung and is very effective. But here, for some reason, it’s used to portray brotherly love.

Two acrobats do their schtick on a large wire guitar suspended upstage center. As they’re doing their acrobatics, there’s a woman sitting at an old upright piano softly playing and singing the song. No argument that Elvis missed his twin. And no argument that these two guys on the guitar are really good at what they do. The only argument is against taking such a passionate number and doing this to it.

The next scene goes back to Elvis’ childhood in Tupelo, MS. Old photos are projected on the screen as the townsfolk carrying umbrellas come out on the stage and perform All Shook Up as a gospel tune. And the woman singing the song actually changes the lyrics to say “I’m itchin’ like a woman on fuzzy tree.”

The spectacle is a grand and joyous event that will stick in your mind for a long time — a terrific celebration of Elvis’ music. The dancing and acrobatics are lavish and exuberant. The on-stage band is exellent. And the production values are incomparable. It’s just plain fun to watch with wonderful sets, colorful costumes and captivating special effects.

Yes, the show is a bit pricey in a struggling Las Vegas economy, tickets ranging from $114 to $200, but well worth the price if you can afford it.  Shows are at 7 and 9:30 p.m., Fridays though Tuesdays.  702-531-2031.

Long live The King!

Wayne Brady returns to Las Vegas, follows Chazz Palminteri, Joan Rivers

Entertainer Wayne Brady, right, to many, may not have left Sin City.  But that he did.  Now, Brady of “Let’s Make a Deal” fame, which taped at the Tropicana, is returning to the Venetian in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend.

Brady, produced by Zeiger’s Base Entertainment, is scheduled to perform 15 weeks scattered though the rest of this year, while presumably working around the new taping schedule of “Deal.”

But before Brady arrives, Chazz Palminteri and Joan Rivers will keep his Venetian stage warmed up.

Palminteri performs his autobiographical one-man play “A Bronx Tale” April 28-May 9 and Oct. 6-18.  It’s a Las Vegas exclusive engagement- the only booking this year for Palminteri.

Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin to Receive Las Vegas Star Tributes

The Las Vegas Walk of Fame will install sidewalk star memorials to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in ceremonies at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22 in the Flamingo showroom.

Deana Martin will speak on behalf of her father, Dean.

So, why did these mega-stars of the Las Vegas heyday get their stars after Tony Sacca and Wayne AllenRoot?  Simple:  These latter guys were paid for by the recipients’ families, while Sinatra and Marine families didn’t see the need to pay for an honor that virtually existed anyway through their mass audience appeal for decades.

The Walk haunchos, apparently, had a soft spot in their heart and is financing Sinatra and Martin on their own dime.  That’s nice.

Money talks- and for sure in Las Vegas.

Gilley’s Returns to the Las Vegas Strip on April 16

Gilley’s is coming back, bull and all. The mechanical bull that has long been victorious in numerous battles waged by tourists, locals and bikini-clad riders is back to buck off all comers at it’s new ‘arena’ at Treasure Island, when Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall and Bar-B-Que re-opens April 16.

A Las Vegas cousin of the famous Texas saloon, it was THE popular country honky-tonk and a huge attraction at the New Frontier for years until owner Phil Ruffin sold it and bought Treasure Island for $775 million.

It will be going in the former Tangerine nightclub space now occupied by Christian Audigier the Nightclub, which overlooks the Sirens of T.I. gunbattle. Gilley’s will have retractable glass for outdoor Strip seating, and will be accessible from inside the casino and via a newly constructed bridge in front of the Siren’s ship.

Gilley’s will be open for lunch and dinner, featuring a show kitchen and custom saddle seats at the bar, live entertainment Thursday through Saturday, line dancing and the world-famous Gilley Girls.

Big League Baseball Sort of Comes to Las Vegas

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese and Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown all were on hand recently to praise the new baseball sports park as a world-class attraction for local and visiting ballplayers and families.

“Big League Dreams (BLD) is a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility that raises the bar for baseball and softball in the city of Las Vegas,” Goodman said. “Las Vegas is known for having the best entertainment, hotels, restaurants and shopping, and now we also have the best ball fields.”

BLD owners and representatives included former Los Angeles Dodgers star Bill Russell, a BLD consultant.

“This is our 10th Big League Dreams Sports Park, and it’s a great fit for Las Vegas,” Russell said. “We know that this park, even more than our others, will attract visitors from all over the country.”

‘Mr. Las Vegas’ Wayne Newton asks for his Indian Tribe Recognition

“Mr. Las Vegas” Wayne Newton has reportedly abandoned his mouldy plane languishing at a Detroit airport, racking up bills of more than $60,000, but the good news is he’s asking Virginia legislators to grant state recognition to his Indian tribe.

The Virginia-born entertainer has appealed to the House Rules Committee to officially recognize the Patawomeck, or Potomac, tribe, of which he is a member.

The recognition allows the group to be known as a tribe but does not grant sovereignty.

Newton and Patawomeck Chief Robert Green said it would validate their identity and help them protect sacred burial grounds.

Michael Jackson’s Doctor to Face Charges Tomorrow – UPDATE

It appears now that Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, with offices in Texas and Las Vegas, will most likely formally face involuntary manslaughter charges tomorrow in Los Angeles, California.

UPDATE:  Dr. Murray WAS indeed going to face charges today, Feb. 5.  And, in fact, was in Los Angeles waiting – begging – to turn himself in, but Los Angeles authorities refused to act on his pleading, saying they will on Mon.,  Feb. 8.  We apologize for any inconvenience this caused in your day.

Dr. Murray has been investigated for the past seven months since the pop icon’s untimely death.

The charge results from improperly administering Michael Jackson the propofyl sleep inducing drug that ultimately ended his life.

The charge, many feel, is a mere legal wrist slap, probably being a 4-year prison term, if that, if deemed guilty.

Yesterday, Dr. Murray was supposed to appear in a $130,000 civil suit in Las Vegas, but decided not to appear, losing the case.

Las Vegas Backstage Access has covered the entire Michael Jackson case, with numerous articles posted.

Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas Planning Series of Beyonce Concerts?

It is rumored in media circles that Steve Wynn is presently exploring the possibilities of arranging a string of concerts by popular American Rhythm and Blues (R&B) singer and song writer Beyonce Knowles.  It is further speculated from sources that the agreement amount with Beyonce will be in the tune of $750,000. The number of concerts and durations are not yet decided.

Wynn Resorts spokesperson Jennifer Dunne reportedly said that the deal is yet to be finalized and contract has not been signed. The association between Beyonce and Wynn Casino started few months back when this year during July 30 and Aug. 2 the singer visited the casino for recording a DVD for her concert. It is said that during her shoots both Wynn and its sister resort Encore saw a huge fan following and increase in number of guests. Soon after this the singer has been spotted too often in the casino.

It is said that Beyonce will be following the footsteps of famous Canadian singer Céline Dion who signed a contract with Caesars Palace casino of Las Vegas few years back. In this she performed in 717 concerts within 5 years and earned a reported $400 million.

The casino also experienced a huge surge in its popularity and earning during the concerts. It has been observed that fans from faraway places come to watch their favorite singers perform in Las Vegas casinos.

Magician Steve Wyrick Mysteriously Disappears from Las Vegas

Magician Steve Wyrick has been a solid mainstay in Las Vegas since 2007, performing in a $35 million showroom located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.  He has disappeared nightly; but, this time the vanishing magic act is apparently a indefinitely canceled show. The performer failed to appear for last night’s show and, apparently, the show is no more.

Wyrick shaped his reputation performing supposed dangerous stunts, but blew his magic cover when a July 4th vanishing act went awry after stage curtains around his “Death Drop” stunt burst into flames and a crew member was injured.

Speculation about his Las Vegas reappearance has not materialized, yet.

Bette Midler to Leave Caesars in Las Vegas in January

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is losing its Colosseum headliner in a few months and has had to hustle to replace her. BetteMidler

Bette Midler is wrapping up her two-year run in “The Showgirl Must Go On” in January. Cher has stepped up to fill the void and has added to her contract shows in April and May.

“What a fabulous two years this has been, and I thank AEG and Caesars Palace for the best partnership a showgirl could imagine.  Who knows?  These legs have had such a great run in the desert—it may be time to haul them to places with more humidity and fewer slot machines.  But first I need to finish recording my album of the sexiest new love songs that only a showgirl could sing,” stated Midler.

“Bette is one of the most talented, hard working professionals in the business and we would have loved for her to stay longer, said John Meglen, co-CEO and President of AEG Live/Concerts West. “All of us at AEG Live thank Bette and the entire cast, crew and staff for a great two year run at The Colosseum.”

“Like every one of her performances, the approaching finale of Bette’s two-year engagement leaves us applauding for more,” said Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace. “Bette always will have a home at Caesars Palace.”

The Showgirl Must Go On will perform November 7 through 15 and December 30 through January 31, 2010. The show is dark Monday, Thursday and occasional Fridays. Tickets for these final performances are on-sale now at Ticketmaster.com, keyword “Bette Midler”, by calling 1-877-7BETTEM, or in person at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Box Office in Las Vegas, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Wayne Newton Saying “Danke Schoen” to Las Vegas?

Wayne Newton is telling his fans “Danke Schoen” after 50 years in Las Vegas and hinting that his latest run in Las Vegas could be his last. But the singer synonymous with Sin City says he’s leaving himself an opening in case he wants to perform after April. WayneNewton2

The man known throughout the world as “Mr. Las Vegas” says retirement is possible, but that decision won’t hinge on the success of his new show that opened at the Tropicana Las Vegas hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Instead, he says, it depends on whether his itch to keep working conflicts with his desire to spend more time with his 7-year-old daughter.

“I’m enjoying my second daughter in a way that I didn’t get a chance to do the first time around,” Newton, 67, told The Associated Press.  The decision that I make, whether or not to perform or retire, will pretty much be based on that.”

Newton’s current Tropicana show, “Once Before I Go” took 2½ months to write and is presented as a live memoir of Newton’s life and his career, with never-before-shared insights from Newton about personal episodes along the way.

“It’s challenging to keep it entertaining,” Newton said. “And that was my first prerequisite.”

Newton has told his audience that it was tough for him to pick highlight songs from a career that includes 165 records.

“It would be impossible for me to pick songs from all of them even if I remembered them, which I don’t,” Newton quipped.

Newton arrived in Las Vegas in 1959, when a two-week tryout at the Fremont Hotel & Casino turned into lounge act of six shows per night, six nights a week for nearly a year. The crooner earned national fame after a 1962 television appearance on “The Jackie Gleason Show,” which led to many more singing and acting gigs on TV and in film.

He also headlined at several casinos throughout Sin City, including the New Frontier, which hosted entertainers including Elvis Presley, Ronald Reagan and Siegfried & Roy over its 65 years. The casino was imploded in 2007.

“I’ve been working since I was four,” Newton said. “There really has not been a time in my life that I don’t remember working.”

“If I still feel like I have something to give when this particular show is over, then I’ll make the decision to probably curtail work a little bit but not give it up totally,” he told the Associated Press. “If I don’t feel that way at the end of this, then I’ll probably hang it up.”

Only the Taliban Views This Type of Las Vegas Air Show

…and it’s a whole lot of pain mixed in with terrible shock and awe!

This Saturday and Sunday, more than 100 of the best fighter planes in the world will loop, swoop and dive in the sky over Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, performing as part of the Aviation Nation 2009 show.

Their eighth consecutive Las Vegas air show is expected to draw more than 100,000 spectators to the base, making it the largest free public event in Nevada this year.

Queued up on the runway will be aircraft ranging in age from a World War II-era PT-17 Steerman biplane to a new F-22 fighter jet. Other notables include the A-10 Thunderbolt II, C-17 Globemaster III, the Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet and the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16.

The Air Force Thunderbirds are expected to steal the show again with a brand new maneuver: the diamond-loop takeoff, performed in four new Block 52 F-16s.

“We get airborne, retract the gear and essentially go straight into a loop and maneuver into the diamond formation,” explains Lt. Col Greg Thomas, the Thunderbirds’ squadron commander. “It’s something the Thunderbirds have never done, and it’s something that most teams can’t do because they don’t have the power we do.” (Each Block 52 packs 29,000 pounds of thrust.)

The military will be joined by three civilian acts: the Horsemen P-51 Demonstration Team, the Patriots Jet Demonstration Team and California resident Bill Reesman in his MiG-17.

The show will feature more than just roaring air maneuvers.  Ground displays will depict the history of American aviation and America’s military might, showcasing several military aircraft fresh from Iraq and Afghanistan battlefields.

Food, beverages and novelties will be available for purchase.

Free round-trip shuttle bus transportation will be available to and from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The public will not otherwise be allowed entry into Nellis Air Force Base.

Singer Toni Braxton & Hubby Splitting Up?

Soul singer and frequent Las Vegas performer Toni Braxton has reportedly split from her husband Keri Lewis after eight years of marriage. ToniBraxtonKeriLewis

The couple has two children, seven year old Denim and Diezel, six.

The split news, reported by Essence.com, comes as the Unbreak My Heart singer faces the prospect of losing her home after she allegedly defaulted on her mortgage payments.

The singer owes more than $12,500 on her mansion in Century City, California and officials at the Bank of America are now looking to foreclose on the property, according to TMZ.com.

The news comes just a week after it was revealed that Braxton is facing a lawsuit from bosses at another financial institution, City National Bank, who claim the star owes them $900,000 in loan payments.

Braxton has been facing financial difficulties ever since she scrapped a series of Las Vegas concerts in 2008 after she was hospitalised with a reported heart problem. She is currently embroiled in a legal battle with her insurance company, after the firm refused to pay out on the axed shows.

Garth Brooks & U2 Catalyst for Las Vegas’ Economic Revival

If you were not one of the 40,000 or so raving fans fortunate enough to watch U2 perform at Sam Boyd stadium on Saturday or you weren’t lucky or fast enough to get tickets for one of Garth Brooks first 20 shows, then you, sadly, were not part of the Economic Revival of lethargic Las Vegas.

U2 not only sold out, but it created the biggest revenue blip ever in the history of Sam Boyd stadium.

On Saturday tickets for Garth Brooks’ first 20 shows at the Wynn Las Vegas resort sold out in less than five hours. The resort said it reached maximum capacity for callers at 141,934, with many just getting busy signals for their effort.

Officials also say the ticket Brooks’ Web site had more than 5.4 million page views with 40,000 waiting to buy tickets online at one point.

Brooks announced a five-year deal with casino owner Steve Wynn last week that includes 15 weeks of shows a year in the Encore Theater, which seats about 1,500. Tickets were $125 plus fees.  Feel free to do the math.

Brooks, the best-selling solo act in history, plays Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays of select weeks beginning Dec. 11.

Las Vegas Backstage Access says to keep the momentum going- it’s great as a start for reviving entertainment fervor and revenues in Las Vegas!

U2 Blowout Crowd Expected in Las Vegas Momentarily

If you haven’t got tickets yet, just forgedaboutit.   In a few hours from now more than 40,000 people are expected to jam Sam Boyd Stadium for their 360 Tour until it probably bursts wide open, surely setting a record for the largest concert ever held at the venue.

It took 135 trucks to haul in the 500,000-plus pounds of equipment used to construct the foreboding claw-like structure that will surround the band.  The massive stage will stand more than 150 feet tall.  And, if that’s not enough, they’ll show off a new cylindrical video display of connected LED panels held high by a 150-foot steel frame.

Compared to their November 2001 show during their Elevation Tour, only 18,000 people came.  But that was a memorabable event nonetheless, as No Doubt opened for them and rocked out for 30 minute.  Not to be outdone, freelance photographer Denise Truscello, who still photographs in Las Vegas, got an impromptu makeout session with Bono when he ducked his head into the photographers’ pit.

But what everyone remembered was not Truscello, but when the glowing LED screen behind the stage rolled with the name of every person killed in the attacks of Sept. 11 as Bono sang out “One.” A band capable of evoking any emotions onstage reduced 18,000 fans to tears.

U2 always does something unpredictable when they perform in Las Vegas during their 16-city U.S. tour.

‘Peepshow’ in Las Vegas not for Camera Peeking

Scandalous photographs recently snapped at a risqué Las Vegas show have raised questions about technology versus security.

The photos were of performer Aubrey O’Day in topless revue “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood. AubreyODay

Between cameras and cell phones, pictures can be easily snapped and even full length movies can be recorded — causing rising concerns now to producers and performers.

The pictures taken were not suitable for children and were something the performer did not want to see surfacing on the Internet.

“I decided to call out tonight because of some nude photos that were illegally obtained last night at the show,” O’Day said.

O’Day cancelled an appearance earlier this week after the nude pictures circulated the Web. She later posted a video on YouTube addressing the candid photos.

“It made me feel bad. It made me insecure about my body,” O’Day said.

Security officials said they are not sure how the photos were captured. “We don’t allow any cameras in the theater,” said vice president of BASE Entertainment Marks Chowning.

But even with all the security detail and bag checks, many devices still do sneak inside.

Chowning works for the company that manages “Peepshow” and said it’s a problem that’s getting tougher to handle.  “It’s somewhat of a losing battle. As you know, the devices are getting smaller and better equipped with more technology,” Chowning said.

At almost every Las Vegas show, nude or not, recording is forbidden.  Knowing it’s almost impossible to stop everyone, “Peepshow” uses trained eyes and even night vision goggles to weed out clandestine photographers.

“We will be more aggressive about watching the audience. We will have the night vision goggles in use, and people who are found in violation of the policy will be ejected from the theater,” Chowning said.  “Really trying to protect what the women want protected, which is not having naked pictures of them strewn about the Internet,” Chowning said.

O’Day has since returned to “Peepshow” after sitting out one night. The show opened earlier this year.

Miley Cyrus vs. Britney Spears in Las Vegas This Weekend

With professional boxing being such a huge draw in Las Vegas, why not try celebrity sing-offs to help Las Vegas’ choking economy?  That’s what will happen on September 26 as pint-size pop culture icon Miley Cyrus goes up against the sometimes notorious, but always colorful – and aging – pop star Britney Spears. MileyBritney

Singer and actress Miley Cyrus, whose “Party in the U.S.A” recently jumped to a number two ranking on the Billboard Hot 100 after her risqué pole dancing performance at the Teen Choice Awards, might just be up for a good challenge as she performs on the same night, down the street at Thomas & Mack.

Offering cheap $25 tickets as her “Welcome Back to School Mania Special,”  you can’t fault the Hannah Montana star for at least giving it her all to try to pack ‘em in.   And who knows, maybe she’ll be sporting ever more mature makeup and be seen with either beau Liam Hemsworth  or Carter Jenkins walking her down the Strip?

As of this writing, tickets are still available online at UNLVTickets.com, by phone (702-739-FANS) and at UNLV ticket outlets.

Crooner Wayne Newton to Headline Tropicana in Las Vegas?

Momentarily it will be officially announced that aging crooner Wayne Newton will be back on the Las Vegas Strip as a resident headliner at the Tropicana. WayneNewton

Although the aging Las Vegas icon has lost his robust trademark singing voice of 50 years, this time a new show described as a “theatrical extravaganza,” will focus more on his personality and charm, not his singing.

Jack Wishna, the agent brokering the deal through his CP America company, has acknowledged a pending contract but said he couldn’t discuss content until it is final.

Others say Newton is finally ditching the bandstand crooner format he clung to with diminishing returns in this decade, and that his show will be reformatted to emphasize his strengths and not his weaknesses.

A new format could go one of two directions or somehow combine them: A variety show in which Newton would introduce guest stars, or a “Joker Is Wild” shift (named after the Sinatra movie bio of Joe E. Lewis) that would have him maybe sing “Danke Schoen,” but mostly tell jokes, play his banjo and serve up backstage yarns from his long career.

Please stay tuned for more updates from Las Vegas Backstage Access.

Former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss Sentenced to Be Sober for Three Years

Las Vegas Backstage Access continues to follow the trials and tribulations of former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.  Now we learn she has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges of methamphetamine use and possession of painkiller hydrocodone without a prescription in Nye County, Nevada.

Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, who is a resident in Nye County and has a residence just outside Pahrump, Nevada, received sentencing for a drug arrest.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Heidi Fleiss, 43, was sentenced Tuesday in Pahrump to three years of probation and ordered to give up drugs, alcohol, and gambling.

While on probation she is subject to random drug testing and must go through a court-mandated drug seminar.

Ironically, she has completed a drug treatment as paid cast member on the VH-1 reality show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” which will air in 2010.

Fleiss commented to press that she should not have any issues keeping the terms of her probation. Fleiss said, “Anything that’s going to keep me on the right path, I’m all for. This whole thing was stupid on my part. I’m just irritated with myself.”

On February 7, 2008 she was caught in a traffic stop outside a Pahrump plumbing supply store and possessed six hydrocodone pills without a prescription. After her arrest she took a mandated blood test that came back positive for methamphetamine.

She pleaded guilty this July to charges of methamphetamine use and possession of hydrocodone without a prescription.

The article from the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Nye Country District Attorney, Bob Beckett said that Fleiss was barred from gambling after a parole and probation report suggested casino games might fuel her addictions.

Fleiss replied: “It’s probably a good thing. It’s like being barred from eating hot dogs, who cares?”  She quickly added, however, that getting permission every time she leaves the state “such a hassle.”

Fleiss is far from being out of a passle of current legal troubles.  She faces some landlord issues after they filed a $40,000 lawsuit seeking damages from parrots to a rental house Fleiss was staying in.  And she is also being sued over her business venture, a dog grooming business called ‘Dirty Dog’ which is caught up in a messy divorce between the former owners.

Fleiss said in the report, “Sometimes being Heidi Fleiss can be a pain in the ass.”

‘Bloodless’ Bullfighting Catches Kitschy Las Vegas Off-Guard

Bullfighting1875sFace it:  Every day is really a crap shoot in Las Vegas.  Some days are great.  Others are so-so.  And yet still others are pure hell.  But imagine your worst nightmare of waking up to face-to-face to a grunting, over one thousand pound drooling bull – the epitome of True Mean reincarnated – staring you down with flaming red eyes, refusing to budge an inch.  And yet you’re tasked to make him “play” with you, armed only with a bright red or pink cape and a Velcro-tipped stick.   Goliath had it better.  And, if this isn’t bad enough– you don’t wake up. Bullfighting1861s

That nightmare became a real sweaty and death defying reality for some of the world’s greatest bullfighters yesterday when a sparse, but extremely enthusiastic crowd of approximately 500 people, most of whom were Hispanic and spoke Spanish, paid from $60 to $650 each to see a very rare “bloodless” bullfight at the South Point hotel-casino south of the Las Vegas Strip.

The event, staged in part to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day, which is this Wednesday, was reportedly the first bullfight staged in the Las Vegas Valley since 1965, when one was staged outside Las Vegas, near what today is Primm, Nevada.

Bullfighting1834sHow does the new sport work?  A patch of Velcro is fastened to the bull’s back and, rather than using a killing sword, the matador tries to deftly attach a Velcro-coated stick to the bull’s withers.  Though it appears they’ve stabbed the bull, the animal is unhurt and walks away to fight another day, as does the bullfighter.   Win-win.  Or is it?

For the matadors this emerging style of bullfighting is extremely dangerous when compared to regular bullfighting because the animals are not injured or first weakened by the placing of metal spears in the bull before the final kill.

The matadors, wearing the traje de luces, or the colorful sequined suit of lights, included several who are the cultural icons in their home countries of Mexico and Spain, made quite a show of taunting the bulls.   Some made $500,000 just for an afternoon appearance.

Las Vegas, the City of Kitsch, would normally have gobbled up this type of event up with fans ya-hooing it from the rafters. But the small crowd in the events center that holds thousands testifies not only to our sour economy but  the combination of the limited event marketing and having the event kickoff on non-prime weekdays.

Bloodless bullfighting has just started to take hold throughout the U.S., becoming popular elsewhere, including California.

In Mexico, Spain, and Portugal – the home of bullfighting – bullfights are huge events; parties can go on seemingly endlessly before and after the event.

Outside the event, a handful of PETA members voiced objections to the event, saying that the bulls were in danger and at risk for injury and that promoting bullfighting in general was not a good thing.

The event continues at 2 p.m. today and will return to South Point on Sept. 27-30.

As reported in July by Las Vegas Backstage Access (https://vbablogger.com/2009/07/14/carmen-electra-goes-topless-in-las-vegas/ ), Las Vegas regular Carmen Electra took her performance at the MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse ParisCarmenElectra2 beyond the expected by tossing aside her pasties and taking to the stage completely topless.  The positive response to this performance has led to a return engagement for the 37-year-old former Playmate.  Electra will once again be on the cabaret stage at the Crazy Horse Paris starring in two shows nightly starting Monday, October 7.  She will participate in the ensemble routine “Etoile de Paris” as well as solo routines choreographed around her personal dance style.

Tickets price begins at $75 and can be purchase at the MGM Grand or any MGM Mirage ticket outlet.  Guests to this performance must be 18 years or older.

Hoorah for Model Erika Macke of “Models of the Runway”

“Models of the Runway”   5’10”  model Erika Macke is a red-haired beauty that lived in Las Vegas during her younger years before moving with her family to Los Angeles. In fact, she got her first modeling job from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper at age 17. ErikaMacke

Paired with designer Qristyl Frazier for the challenge to create a pregnancy chic look for Rebecca Romijn, Macke was also a star athlete with many trophies to show for it, and she took her winning streak through the third episode of “Runway,” before deciding that doing a national commercial and earning her SAG card – always one of her goals – was the best course of action to take rather than continuing in the catwalk competition– much to the chagrin of Heidi Klum, Macke’s lifelong idol.

Las Vegas Backstage Access congratulates Ericka and extends our wishes for a bright future.

Paul Abdul Bringing Revue Stage Show to Las Vegas?

Former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul has reportedly stepped up talks to bring a revue-style stage show to Las Vegas. PaulaAbdul

The former Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader was rumored last year to be in negotiations with executives at several Las Vegas casinos to headline a cheer-themed stage show in late 2009.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, Abdul — who relinquished her seat on “American Idol” earlier this month — is now seriously talking to the Venetian, the Wynn Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Hilton to take residency in Sin City.

It’s not the first time Abdul has been in talks to star on the strip — the singer was also on the verge of signing a deal with bosses at the Silverton Casino & Hotel in 2006 before talks fell through after she chastised hotel employees there for missing her plane flight back to New York on New Year’s.

Former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss Plots Dirty Dog Deeds with Porn Star Homey in Las Vegas

The former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss enjoys doing most anything dirty in Nevada.  Her dirty empire is now morphing, going to the dogs, with grandiose plans to grow it leaps and bounds.  Heidi Fleiss

dirtylaundryFirst, Fleiss gave a boost to Pahrump, Nevada tax revenues in 2007, and since, by opening her very successful Dirty Laundry coin-op laundromat business.  Now, she’s got a new plan– taking dead aim at cleaning all the dirty dogs in Las Vegas.

Fleiss is the new owner of a small dog grooming business located in a Kmart shopping center at Sunset and Sandhill roads in Las Vegas that offers everything from doggy dye jobs, nail polish pet-icures, to self-service stations where, if so inclined, you can wash your own dirty ol’ pooch.

They’re calling their business Dirty Dog, though the sign above the door still bears the business’ old name, Little Buddy Bath.

Kendra RossiFleiss’ business partner in the venture is Kendra Jade Rossi, left, a porn star and recovering sex addict who said she plans to regularly commute to Las Vegas from her home in Los Angeles.

Their place is open for business, but it’s a bit of a mess right now as Fleiss and company remodel with calming colors and distressed antique furniture meant to give it that “shabby-chic look.”  When they’re done, Fleiss hopes, their doggy salon is going to look like something you would find in a ritzy Los Angeles shopping area.

“But it’s going to feel in your pocket like you just went to Kmart,” Rossi said.

Fleiss got the dirty dog bug and decided to get into the grooming business after she attended PetSmart Inc.’s annual meeting in June and learned how much money people spend on their pets each year– to the tune of $6 billion!

“I wish I’d known about this before. I never would have gone into the sex business or any other business,” Fleiss quipped.

Fleiss went to the PetSmart meeting in New York City to speak on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has called on the retailer to phase out the sale of live birds.

Fleiss has always had a true, enduring love for all types of flesh, feathered and furred animals.  She developed a passion for parrots almost immediately after she moved to Pahrump in 2005 and inherited a menagerie of 26 of the exotic birds from her elderly neighbor.  She now shares her home with her feathered friends, letting them fly free without confining cages.

Fleiss originally moved to the town 60 miles west of Las Vegas to open a unique brothel for women called the Stud Farm, but she later abandoned that idea amid political pressure and excessive government red tape.  [Feb. 13 Las Vegas Backstage Access article.]

Fleiss and Rossi struck up an amiable friendship recently when they appeared together on the VH1 rehab reality show “Sober House,” where Fleiss went after soon-to-be-televised treatment for drug addiction.

“We formed our own little clique,” said Rossi, who runs an animal rescue in Los Angeles.

Fleiss said they bonded over their love of animals. “The way I am about birds, she is about dogs,” she said.

They are already talking about expanding the shop and adding boarding services and dog nutrition counseling. And that’s just the beginning.

“We don’t want one Dirty Dog, we want 100 Dirty Dogs,” Fleiss said, adding the pet industry looks like a can’t-miss proposition.

“Anything with animals does really well. Come on, people buy their dogs $8,000 Gucci sweaters,” she said. “People get over their mother or brother dying. They never get over their pet dying.”

So why should people trust their beloved pets to a madam and a porn star who just happily met each other in rehab?

“I changed my whole life for animals,” Fleiss said, adding her past is just that- the past.

Michael Jackson Celebrations ‘Round the World

Pop music icon Michael Jackson died on June 25 from a potent cocktail of sleep and pain sedatives, although the Los Angeles coroner’s office is holding firm, not releasing the complete autopsy and toxicology reports pending completion of the homicide investigation currently in progress.   And, of course,  Dr. Conrad Murray, the central figure in the investigation, is mum on commenting further, save his recent YouTube video of self-exoneration.

Despite the lack of closure, Saturday celebrations for Michael Jackson were heard around the world for the King of Pop.

Saturday, Aug. 29 would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday.

Although the true era of Michael Jackson was mostly over decades before the singer died, a curious and strange eerie aura pervaded the celebrations– it was like he never died.

With Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman declaring Aug, 29, “Michael Jackson Day,” almost 20 Las Vegas entertainment acts responded in kind by performing a “Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson” concert at the Pearl Theatre in the Palms Casino & Hotel, spearheaded by Jersey Boys star Erich Bergen, as a tribute to Jackson and his music before a sell-out crowd of 2,600, while raising more $100,000 for music education programs throughout Clark County, Nevada.

Michael Jackson would most likely have loved it, expressing before his death the desire to perform a thank-you concert to Palms owner George Maloof for enabling him to use the venue earlier for his recording sessions and a secluded family R&R retreat.

Family patriarch and dad Joe Jackson said he was unable to attend Saturday’s memorial concert in Las Vegas for his son because of a prior commitment, but a friend said it was more a case of the event being too emotional.  He was on hand, however, on Saturday night for a celebrity star dedication at the Brendan Theatres at the Palms.

Some of the biggest ovations at the Pearl Theatre performance went to:  11-year-old Elijah Johnson of “The Lion King,” performing “Dancing;” the cast members from “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular” and “Jersey Boys” combining on “Theme from Free Willie,” the Australian groups Human Nature (“I Want You Back”) and Signature (“Billy Jean”) and the Las Vegas Mass Choir, decked out in black pants, white shirts, black fedoras and, of course, the glove on the right hand, singing “Man in the Mirror.”

Other Las Vegas tribute performances included the American Superstars at the Stratosphere, Hawaiian Tropic Zone, and the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

But Las Vegas was just the tip of the iceberg for worldwide Jackson tributes on Saturday.  A group of Michael Jackson fans in Leicester, England attempted a world record for the most number of people dancing to the singer’s ‘Thriller’ in one place on his 51st birthday. Some 475 people dressed as zombies packed into Orton Square participate in the event.

Not to be topped, a Michael Jackson impersonator named Hector Jackson (not related) really kicked the competition into overdrive and led what is purportedly the largest gathering of people dancing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in Mexico City, with reportedly 12,937 people dancing and wearing red and gold sequined jackets.

The current record for a group “Thriller” was performed in May by 242 students of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Guinness Book of World Records will determine if the Mexico City performance breaks that record.

Although the bulk of birthday celebration tributes are largely completed, speculation continues to swirl on what’s next in the after-life career of Jackson.

Talks reportedly continue on moving parts of Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California to Las Vegas.  Other plans call for Jackson-themed show, with the Hilton being considered.   Some even say a Jackson-themed Las Vegas casino would be appropriate.   The great news is that any of these ideas have the potential impact of reviving a sputtering Las Vegas economy.

But, whoa there, partner, let’s not get the cart before the horse- Jackson hasn’t even been buried yet!  He will be finally laid to rest after two months of patiently waiting this Thursday, Sept. 3 at Forest Lawn Cemetery near Los Angeles, California at 7 p.m. in a private service.

R.I.P, Michael.

Jon Gosselin: Money Talks, Bullshit Walks in Las Vegas!

To Jon Gosselin, money talks.  And he means it.

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access, The Jon & Kate Plus 8 star is hosting a pool party in Las Vegas this weekend at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic but now sources in Sin City reportedly have told RadarOnline.com exclusively that Jon says he won’t talk to the media on the Red Carpet.

Why?  It depends upon who you believe.  One source told RadarOnline.com that Jon doesn’t want to answer certain questions?  (Mmmm, wonder why?)  But another source says he want to be paid for any media interviews, leading us to wonder if he’s been talking to socialite Paris Hilton?

Supposedly, a group of Jon’s friends from Pennsylvania are now in Las Vegas to join him and his mom, planning on partying until they drain all the liquor from Sin City.

DJ AM Found Dead in New York

DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, the celebrity disc jockey who publicly acknowledged his history of drug addiction and had filmed a reality show in which he offered to help other addicts, was found dead in his Manhattan SoHo apartment yesterday. He was 36. DJam

Police found a crack pipe and prescription pills in his apartment. Paramedics had to break down the door before they found him, shirtless and wearing sweatpants, in his bed around 5:20 p.m. on Friday.

There was no evidence of foul play, although a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

DJ AM, whose had openly discussed past addictions to crack cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs, addictions so bad he once tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head — but the gun jammed. However, he claimed he had been drug-free for years, even swearing off cigarettes.

In October, MTV was to debut his reality show, “Gone Too Far,” in which he and concerned families staged interventions for drug abusers. In a recent AP interview, he talked about holding a crack pipe for the first time in years for the show and said he felt as though he had an angel on his shoulder for surviving so much turmoil.

“There’s no better way to remember what it was like when I was at my bottom than to see someone at their bottom,” he told the Associated Press.

MTV did not have an immediate comment on whether Goldstein’s show would air, but said in a statement that it “was honored to support him as he helped young people battle their own addictions.”

Goldstein rose to fame several years ago as a highly sought-after deejay for hire who regularly performed at Las Vegas’ and Hollywood’s most exclusive nightclubs and parties and was admired by music aficionados for his deft mashups of rock and roll with hip-hop, who always kept the dance floor packed and clubgoers hypnotized.

Goldstein was also part owner of the LAX nightclub at the Luxor in Las Vegas.

This Friday he was scheduled to perform at the Rain nightclub in the Palms Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas.

He was famous for his relationships with reality TV star Nicole Richie, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, actress-singer Mandy Moore, and friend Criss Angel.

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access, Goldstein was critically injured last September when a Learjet crashed on takeoff in Columbia, S.C. The plane was transporting among others Goldstein and Travis Barker, a drummer for the pop punk band Blink-182, after a performance; the pair had formed the duo TRVSDJ-AM.

Barker and Goldstein were burned, though Barker was injured more severely. Goldstein had to get skin graft surgery, but about a month later he was performing again, joining Jay-Z on stage.

“I can’t believe I made it,” Goldstein said. “I’ve prayed every night for the past 10 years. There’s a lot more to thank God for now. … I was saved for a reason. Maybe I’m going to help someone else. I don’t question it. All I know is I’m thankful to be here.”

He is also one of the playable characters in Activision’s “DJ Hero,” a rhythm video game from the makers of “Guitar Hero” that uses a turntable-shaped controller. The game is set for release Oct. 27.

Celebrities, friends and fans instantly shared their reactions on Twitter, where “RIP DJ AM” was the No. 1 topic on Friday.

Singer John Mayer wrote: “We’re supposed to lose our friends to time, at an age when we’re ready to agree to the terms of having lived a long life. Not now.”

Media and onlookers flocked to his apartment, creating a frenzied scene; flowers had been placed outside the entrance.

Who will Headline Paris Las Vegas Theater?

The 1,450-seat Theatre des Arts in the Paris Hotel & Casino has sat vacant since “The Producers” closed 18 months ago- a very long wait for such a prominent piece of Las Vegas real estate.

The latest rumor is that long-running Las Vegas entertainer Barry Manilow will jump ship from the Las Vegas Hilton at the end of this year. Hilton officials acknowledge they’ve heard that talk, but say no decisions have been reached.

Other rumored candidates have fallen by the wayside or gone elsewhere. A Marie Osmond daytime TV show is on ice. A live version of “America’s Got Talent” is going to Planet Hollywood, moving in with “Peepshow” for at least 10 weeks starting Oct. 7, with none other than Jerry Springer hosting.

A Safe & Sane Las Vegas? Prive Nightclub Says So

Apart from some staunch Las Vegans who feel – and sincerely hope – that “Sin City” will change its long-standing dastardly moniker and morph into a hotbed for bio-med and other non-sordid industries, it’s not going to happen, at least according to many Las Vegas authorities, including casino mogul Sheldon Addison and his many cohorts. Prive

Las Vegas has, is, and apparently always will be all about entertainment oozing from its every eclectic pore.   Tourists, the Las Vegas lifeblood, come to entertain and be entertained– and, like the advertising slogans oft allude to, not always in the most savory of pursuits.

Having a drink- or ten – staying up to the wee hours, while chasing microscopic skirts or quaffed GQ gents is the regular modus operandi for many in Las Vegas.

But could that historic Las Vegas lifestyle be facing evolutionary, if not revolutionary, pressure to change?

Taking the cue from pop entertainment icon visitors Brit-Brit, Paris Hilton, LiLo, and others, perhaps that decadent, yet strangely renewing lifestyle of old is, like life itself,  changing– is guzzling chic water and partaking in only good clean fun becoming the evolving new order ruling the night?

Enter Prive Nightclub, the current poster child for potentially a ‘New Deal’ in Vegas.  The nightclub reopened late last Friday night to throngs of partygoers waiting for hours to get in after the club was shut down and a $500,000 fine paid by Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in July to Nevada gambling regulators for the private Las Vegas nightclub’s many prior indiscretions, including hiring employees with criminal records, allowing minors inside the club and permitting underage drinking, drug use, taking dangerously drunk customers and dropping them off unattended in the casino, and physical and sexual assault by nightclub employees. [July 19 Las Vegas Backstage Access article.]

It was almost like the past never happened.  In fact, many party going tourists from outside Las Vegas, didn’t even know the trendy club and sister ultralounge, The Living Room, had been shut down.   Once one was lucky (and skillful) enough fight the throng of hundreds waiting behind the entry ropes and get the inside, they found the club didn’t miss a single thundering beat, testified by the quaking, packed dance floor and eye-candy go-go dancers aplenty shaking their overflowing assets like no tomorrow.  Rapper and music producer Jermaine Dupri took to the turntables later in the evening, seemingly possessed and oblivious to the prior entertainment history lesson.

What was different, though, was that topless and otherwise lewd and somewhat lascivious activity – the stuff that made Las Vegas a leading “no tell” tourist destination – was curiously absent.  Add to the fact, hotel-casino staffs were also allowed to enter unencumbered, not escorted by Prive security, as was the customary practice before, presumably to catch sin before it starts.

Prive is encouraged to remain in good graces, as their temporary opening license is good only through Sept. 20, unless it is extended by the county.   Before that, on Sept. 1, club officials are scheduled to appear before the Clark County Commission to check to see if they are remaining nice and not naughty.

Before you think this Prive incident is a statistical rare anomaly, think again.  Much like the H1N1 pandemic virus, club actions similar to Prive are all pervasive in Las Vegas– it’s just that similar nightclubs haven’t been caught- yet.

While Las Vegas Backstage Access doesn’t ever condone actions that hurt anyone, intentionally or unintentionally, save this, we feel that partying and risqué fun in the spirit of Las Vegas isn’t such a bad thing.  Las Vegas is not Olathe, Kansas.

In the final analysis, is Las Vegas squeezing the “sin” out of Sin City?

Will late night milk and cookies, and an occasional Stevie D trendy gourmet sucker, rule the New Vegas scene, much to the detriment and demise of a unique lifestyle- and contribute to further waning of club revenues?

Prices Drop for Carlos Santana Show in Las Vegas

It was only a matter of time:   Ticket prices have dropped in two price ranges for Carlos Santana’s return engagement at The Joint in the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas.  The bottom two prices are now $55 and $95, a discount of at least $20.  Top tickets for floor seats remain at $155. CarlosSantana

The promoter, AEG Live, didn’t play up the news, just saying the prices were dropped to entice more Las Vegas residents.  The straightforward price cut is in stark contrast to the various short-term discounts that attempt to preserve the face value of tickets at the same promoter’s Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Home Michael Jackson Really Wanted- But Never Had

Pop singer Michael Jackson had plans to make an offer on a $16.5 million estate on Tomiyasu Lane in Las Vegas, owned by Gary and Carol Primm, his former Las Vegas real estate broker says. He was going to call his new home “Wonderland.”

Nestled among the homes of casino owner Phil Ruffin, the Sultan of Brunei and entertainer Wayne Newton is a 10-acre compound in Las Vegas that pop singer Michael Jackson was planning to call home.

Actually, he was planning to call the property at 7000 Tomiyasu Lane — owned by former casino mogul Gary Primm and his ex-wife, Carol — “Wonderland.”

“He got so excited, the minute we drove through the gates here he got that feeling of Neverland,” said Zar Zanganeh, a Realtor with Fine Vegas Estates, during a tour of the home. “As soon as he stepped out of the car, he said, ‘Zar, I love this place. I’m calling it Wonderland.’”

Jackson began eyeing the home in 2007. The King of Pop was planning to put an offer on the $16.5 million estate after his London tour was complete and his finances were flush, Zanganeh said.

Jackson first saw the property when he was living in a 10-acre mansion on Monte Cristo Way in northwest Las Vegas — a property Zanangeh helped him lease, sight-unseen, while the entertainer was overseas after his acquittal on child sexual abuse charges.

It was one of about 15 homes Zanganeh had shown Jackson.  But it was the only home where Jackson felt comfortable enough to walk outside with no mask or umbrella to shield him from the sun.

He wanted to move in immediately but his finances weren’t in order to buy at the time, Zanganeh said. He approached the Primms about leasing the home — an offer they turned down. But Jackson’s interest in the house remained piqued and he stayed in regular contact with Zanganeh by phone and e-mail.

Not long before his death, Jackson learned the Primms had lowered the price from about $22 million to $16.5 million. He told Zanganeh he was preparing to make a formal offer upon his return from England.

Jackson died June 25 before any offers landed on the table.

The mansion struck a chord with Jackson, who was looking for a permanent home after vowing never to return to his Neverland Ranch near Santa Ynez, Calif. The memories of the trial were too painful, and Zanganeh said Jackson on many occasions during their house hunting swore he would never return there. He saw a future in Las Vegas — he entertained the idea of a regular show on the Strip, and wanted to be able to provide stability for his children. He also wanted a home replete with strong security features.

Security was something Gary Primm took seriously. The security features in the home start with three fierce gates — one each for the main home, the guest home and a service entrance.

A fence surrounds the property. Secret tunnels wind throughout the home; many of the doors are bulletproof, and some are cleverly disguised as walls or cabinets to fool a possible intruder giving chase. There’s even a panic room that has its own oxygen supply and a separate, buried phone line so the wires couldn’t possibly be cut.

Attached to the main home is a four-car garage. But it also offers what real estate agents have billed a “car museum” — in essence, a showroom large enough for 20 additional vehicles.

The car museum has its own car wash, which uses deionized water so as not to scratch the vehicles. It also has power lifts so mechanic work can be done on site. The home has two gas stations — one for diesel, one for unleaded.

It wasn’t just Jackson who fell in love with the estate. His children were excited at the thought of moving in, Zanganeh said.

“The kids went nuts (when they first walked in). We keep a lot of candy in the house … Paris ran in here, ran right up to the dining room table, started eating jelly beans and said, ‘Daddy, this is like Candyland!’ which is a game they regularly played in the house. Paris loved that part of the house. Blanket just fell in love with all the animals we had in the barn.”

The home offers an equestrian facility with eight stalls and two wash bays. It also boasts a separate “doggie villa,” which the Primms had used to house their champion Rottweilers. In the barn, there are two horses, a pony and a pig. Jackson didn’t spell out specific plans to bring additional animals, but he did ask if the pony and the pig could stay.

A walk through the back yard of the home reveals a golf driving range, basketball and tennis courts, a greenhouse and a pool.

If the fountains, sculptures, water slide and rock crags weren’t enough, tucked behind a waterfall inside a cave is a grotto guest suite.

Zanganeh described the property as “something very much out of ‘The Flintstones.’”

The secluded 1,000-square-foot living space, which has a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchenette, was going to be turned into a playhouse for the children, Zanganeh said.

The coziness of the 15,000-square-foot home was something that appealed to Jackson — especially the dining room, which is designed to seat eight people.

“Michael enjoyed having family time: They’d dress up for dinner, they’d sit down at the dinner table, they’d always have all the holiday dinners at the table,” Zanganeh said. “It has room for an expansion — the doors open up to an outside area for entertainment — but Michael liked the fact that although the house is very big, many of the important rooms like the bedrooms or the dining rooms still felt very intimate for a family.”

The only space where Jackson planned for a major modification was the indoor shooting range. Guns were of little interest to him, and the space suited him for a recording studio. It even had an area for a production room and a dance floor where he could practice for auditions.

The master bedroom has a “his” and “hers” wing, with separate bathrooms and a workout gym. The “his” bathroom has its own barber chair, and the gym has a sauna and a steam shower. Both sides have walk-in closets. Amenities on the ladies’ side include a whirlpool tub, a balcony for tanning outside and a bidet. (The in-home beauty salon is downstairs by the kitchen.)

The theater room was an important room for Jackson. In other homes, he would take meals or meetings in that room or would use it to entertain, Zanganeh said.  At the Primm estate, the theater room, with seating for 16 and three screens, doubles as a cigar room. It has an extensive ventilation system and fresh oxygen pumped in.

Jackson was also drawn to the neighborhood. Zanganeh said Jackson was concerned about who his neighbors might be. On Tomiyasu Lane, he was comforted by the fact that he had already formed relationships with several residents who lived nearby.

“Every time we went around, Michael wanted to know who the neighbors were, what they do for a living. In this neighborhood, he knew many of the neighbors. He’s friends with the Sultan of Brunei, who built the home next door. He knows Wayne Newton, who has a property around the corner,” Zanganeh said. “It’s a nice, secluded neighborhood. Very private. Everyone is very low key. But it’s a very high net worth community.”

Jackson lived in several leased homes in and around Las Vegas before his death. He spent time at a Pahrump home last summer. He was rumored to be planning a show in Las Vegas at major Strip properties, but those rumors were squelched with the announcement of Jackson’s London tour.

Dine Way, Way Up in the Las Vegas Sky- No Walls!

Las Vegas always loves hosting the unique, out of the ordinary experiences – even crazy stuff – for our visitors and Las Vegans like.  Now Las Vegas fun doesn’t have to stop before dinner, but can continue all the way through it- way, way up in the sky! DinnerInTheSky

An unforgettable dining experience is being offered by Dinner in the Sky at 2800 West Sahara Ave. in Las Vegas, where 22 dinner guests dine suspended over 160-180 feet in the Las Vegas air!  The guests sit comfortably at a Sky Table, dining on fine food prepared by Sky Chefs while enjoying spectacular views of the Las Vegas valley and skyline.

Twenty-two Formula One race car style seats with five-point harnesses are affixed to the perimeter of a 17-foot-by-30-foot platform. Diners take their seats and a “Sky Chef” and three “Sky Waiters,” who assist in the final food preparation and serving of dishes such as “Sky-High Chicken” or “Over-the-Top Filet,” stand in the middle of the platform.

Chefs prepare and serve the food in the air. Diners have no floor beneath them, though they do have foot rests. Diners can also turn their seats 180 degrees.

The five-star dining experience happens by the use of a 250-ton, hydraulic, telescoping crane that reaches up to 183 feet into the air, smooth as riding on an elevator. The platform and seats weigh seven tons, are held by eight cables and need a really strong wind to make it scarier than exhilarating– the entire apparatus is rated to be safe in winds up to 35 mph.

Dinner in the Sky, open from 3 p.m to midnight six nights a week, costs from $200 to $500 per person. It is costlier if, for instance, diners wanted to take their “flight” — term for going for a sky-high dinner — during sunset.

Each dinner guest is always treated to extra special VIP treatment.  They offer pick up and drop off at your hotel, a red carpet reception, complimentary photography and access to the Sky Lounge, a fun and festive place to party down or just relax before and after your flight.

The lofty dining idea was first conceived in Belgium, but now has spread to Canada, China, and more than a dozen other countries around the world.

Las Vegas was the first and still is – for now – the only place in the U.S. to experience the unique dining experience.

Now the high-hanging gastronomical business wants to expand and open a new Las Vegas location smack dab on the Las Vegas Strip in the burned-out remains of the Trump building sales office across the street from the Wynn properties, just north of Fashion Show Mall.

Obviously, his neighbor, casino mogul Steve Wynn is not at all hep into the idea, thinking it will draw people away from his current Wynn and Encore Las Vegas establishments.

Terry Murphy, who spoke on behalf of Wynn Resorts at the July 21 Planning Commission meeting, said “this is just not acceptable in terms of what the Wynn is asking for in their neighborhood.” Wynn Resorts complained that Dinner in the Sky is a “carnival-like attraction.”

The owner of Dinner in the Sky chuckled at the “carnival” characterization.

This Wednesday, August 19 the Clark County Commission will review the proposal.

The owner says that if he can move to the Strip, he expects the number of Dinner in the Sky employees to increase from 15 now to about 80 by the end of the year.

He also says Steve Wynn will be pleasantly surprised once he sees it up and running.

“We’ll have patrons who will pay $200 to $500 per person, and those are the kind of people you’d think he would want to visit his hotel across the street,” he said.

Michael Jackson’s Las Vegas Doctor Courted Stripper Girlfriend

Dr. Conrad Murray took his longtime stripper girlfriend to meet Michael Jackson in Las Vegas two years ago.  The woman, Nicole Alvarez, bore Murray’s seventh child earlier this year, their first, according to a former Las Vegas resident who said Alvarez worked at two Las Vegas strip clubs.

Aspiring actor and author Ben Harris Jr., who said he attended Las Vegas Academy for three years, said Murray met Alvarez at the Crazy Horse Too in Las Vegas in December 2005.

Harris said Alvarez had been fired at Spearmint Rhino strip club in Las Vegas, where she had paired up with another stripper to form a tandem act called “Fire and Ice.” After Alvarez was fired over a dispute, he drove her to Las Vegas the week she met Murray.

“I was with her that night. She showed me a $3,500 check that was written out to her,” Harris said. “She said, ‘I hit the jackpot.’ She thought this was going to be her big break.”

Despite owing many people lots of past due owed money, Murray reportedly set up Alvarez in suites at the Luxor and Mandalay Bay while she was working weekends in Las Vegas.

Murray, who had a medical practice in Las Vegas before joining Jackson as his personal physician in June, is currently under investigation in connection with Jackson’s June 25 death.

Harris, who enrolled at Las Vegas Academy in 1998, said he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career and met Alvarez in the spring of 2004 on the set of a commercial.

Harris, 26, said he has telephone records that would prove his relationship with Alvarez, 27, a native of Puerto Rico. “We talked for hours at a time,” he said, adding the last time he saw her was last year.

A book he has been working on includes their “weird friendship,” he said. Harris finished the manuscript several months before Jackson died. His e-mail address is benharrisjr@yahoo.com

Michael Jackson’s Burial Plans Announced

The King of Pop will at long last be finally laid to, hopefuly, a long and peaceful rest.

Michael Jackson will be buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. on Aug. 29 on what would have been the King of Pop’s 51st birthday,  his father Joe Jackson said.

Joe Jackson, who has a home in Las Vegas, indicated that the burial plans had been made final just in the past few days. He discussed the burial over ribs and jalapeño corn bread at the poolside Simon at Palms Place at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

With him during the discussion was Crystal Marven, a singer he has signed to his new record label, and her mother.

The elder Jackson says he will return to Las Vegas after his son is buried that Saturday to receive a celebrity star in the singer’s honor at the Brenden Theatres, a cinema at the Palms that Michael Jackson and his children frequented. The Brenden will also screen the 1988 film “Moonwalker” that day.

Jackson said he is supportive of the Los Angeles Police Department current probe into his son’s June 25 death so far – but also said that cops may be making Dr. Conrad Murray “the fall guy for a whole lot of people.”

He did not elaborate. Murray was Michael Jackson’s personal doctor and with him the day he died. Murray’s lawyer has confirmed the Vegas-based doctor is being investigated for administering the anesthetic Propofol and possibly other drugs. He denies wrongdoing.

A Las Vegas pharmacy was searched Aug. 11 for evidence Murray sought Propofol there.

Meanwhile, Joe Jackson, who previously indicated he would like a shrine for is son in Las Vegas, dismissed talk that the Neverland mansion would be disassembled and moved to Las Vegas, as his daughter, La Toya Jackson, told reporters last week.

Cathouse Management in Las Vegas in One Doozy of Vicious Legal Catfight

A recent article in the Las Vegas Sun details the lawsuit that CatHouse (in the Luxor) partner Seth Yudof and his company, Creative Eyes LLC, filed in Clark County District Court against companies and individuals involved in the CatHouse at the Luxor hotel-casino, including himself. The suit asks for a court order accounting of the finances of the CatHouse and that a receiver be appointed to preserve the property, capital and assets controlled by the defendants. The defendants include Heptagon LLC, Heptagon Trading LLC, Heptagon Holdings LLC, Billy Cross, Nick Landazuri, Mick Doohan, and Yudof who is the managing member of one of the companies he and Creative Eyes are suing.

Creative Eyes and Yudof claim a breach of contract, fraud and conspiracy related to an alleged consulting agreement between Creative Eyes and one of the CatHouse companies. The 2007 agreement with Heptagon Trading was for creative and entertainment direction for the club. It continues stating that Creative Eyes was to be paid a consulting fee of $100,000 per year and given a 7.5 percent membership interest in Heptagon LLC. The suit claims that Yudof and Cross were supposed to jointly manage Heptagon LLC. The suit also claims that Cross in 2008 negotiated a $250,000 loan from the Luxor, without the knowledge of Yudof.

It continues to state that last September, Creative Eyes’ biweekly checks dropped from $3,846 to $2,000 and that Yudof was denied access to the books, records, vendor lists and other documents of Heptagon LLC’s operating agreement. Along with claims of being threatened, intimidated and bullied by Cross and Landazuri, the suit charges that the defendants have used Yudof’s Social Security number and personal information to engage in transactions … which were not disclosed to plaintiffs. “The defendants … even went so far as to change the locks at the CatHouse … and informed the employees that Yudof was not to be left unsupervised in the venue.” The complaint also states that certain members are now attempting to liquidate Heptagon LLC without giving Yudof the right of first refusal to buy their membership shares, even though he has offered to buy out the other interests in the business for $2.4 million.

Luxor executives supposedly have shown the CatHouse property to potential new suitors, saying it is available for lease.  No takers as of yet.   But rumors are flying that Vegas deal maker Jack Wishna is now in the picture with an offer to purchase The Cathouse and open other like venues in other location outside of Vegas.

The CatHouse supposedly also recently banned Cris Angel from the property after he was suspected of daring a female patron dis-robe for $100.

Woodstock Rebirth in Las Vegas This Weekend

Tie-dyed shirts, peace, free love and lots of spirits will be the free flowing order for this weekend’s merriment, as Las Vegas honors today through Sunday the 40th anniversary of Woodstock at the Fremont Street Experience. woodstock2

Although that historic crowd of a half a million won’t be hanging around this weekend, nevertheless “Woodstock TributePalooza” should be packed with a similarly frenzied crowd that will be treated to a variety of musical acts representing some of the more iconic performers from the past — Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, among others –that graced the stage during the historic concert and almost instantly became the hallmarks for a generation.

Among the performers will be Dead Ahead, a band that performs the music of the Grateful Dead; Randy Linder, performing Credence Clearwater Revival; Byron Bordeaux playing Jimi Hendrix music; Alan Kaye doing Joe Cocker’s music; The Wholigans performing music from The Who and Cara Lee, who will pay tribute to Janis Joplin.

A movie, “From Havens to Hendrix,” will play on the lighted canopy. Music and performances are scheduled to start every day of the tribute at 6:30 p.m., with acts planned through midnight. For a full schedule of events, visit www.vegasexperience.com or call 702-678-5777.

“Chefs vs. City” Cable TV Show Visits Las Vegas

Cable TV is serving up yet another tantalizing food show entree as “Chefs vs. City” airs on the Food Network at 10 p.m. on Fridays.

The by-product is, hopefully, the new show could potentially boost our stagnant Las Vegas economy. In this week’s episode, the gang visits the Minus 5 Degree Lounge, BLT Burger and Shibuya.

But the key scene is when two-person teams- Food Network chefs Chris Cosentino and Aaron Sanchez and Seablue’s executive chef Stephen Hopcraft and executive pastry chef Santanna Salas – have to hurriedly eat 100 bite-sized versions of the Bellagio buffet items, ranging from pickled ginger to smoked duck with St. Andre croustade and pecan caramel to items that have a dazed Salas wondering, “What is all of this?”

Is Las Vegas Beyonce’s Lucky Charm?

After a hugely popular and well received Las Vegas concert, it was announced on Tuesday that Beyonce and Lady Gaga each earned nine nominations for next month’s MTV Video Music Awards– more than any other artist. Beyonce

Reigning champ Britney Spears, another Las Vegas water-imbibing regular, continues her stiff musical comeback with seven nods for “Womanizer” and “Circus.”

For video of the year, Beyonce (“Single Ladies”) faces off against Spears, Eminem (“We Made You”), Kanye West (“Love Lockdown”), and newbie, but strong contender Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”).

Beyonce has only been nominated for video of the year once, losing her 2007 nod for “Irreplaceable” to, of all people, her husband, Jay-Z, and Rihanna for “Umbrella.”  Beyonce does have six wins out of 14 nods in various categories to console her. She contends for a slew more this year, with “Single Ladies” earning nine nominations in total, including best female and pop videos as well as six technical nods.

Talks are on for Beyonce to return to Las Vegas to perform over the holidays.

“The Goods Live Hard. Sell Hard” also stars Ving Rhames (“I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” “Mission: Impossible II”).  The film, from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions, is directed by Neal Brennan, co-creator of the hugely successful Comedy Central hit “Chappelle’s Show.”

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch to be Relocated to Las Vegas?

If Michael Jackson is not going to be buried at Neverland Ranch, the ranch may just be relocated to Las Vegas.

E! News reports the current owner of Neverland has drafted plans to dismantle the King of Pop’s once-adored residence and move it from the outskirts of Santa Barbara, Calif., to Sin City and fashion a Graceland-style tourist attraction.

Jackson’s estate is “seriously considering” the idea, although still in its preliminary planning stages.

Colony Capital, the investment firm that saved the property from being auctioned off last year, is reportedly developing a business plan with Jackson’s estate to transport Neverland’s main house and several other structures to what would have to be a pretty large piece of land near the Vegas Strip.

A source with knowledge of the project says Colony executives are drafting proposals for a museum, theater and, pending approval from the family, a burial plot for Jackson’s body (like the one at Graceland where Elvis Presley was laid to rest) where fans could pay their respects to the fallen iconic singer.

Michael G. Dave, a California probate attorney, says it would only require the blessing of estate executors John McClain and John Branca to start launching the plans.

Supposedly it would cost at least tens of millions of dollars to reimagine Neverland in Vegas, sources told E! News. But one insider says Colony Capital founder Thomas Barrack has met with community resistance when it comes to moving forward with development on the current Neverland site, and that moving the whole kit and caboodle to Vegas could end up being the more profitable venture.

Meanwhile, insiders say Jackson’s estate is also in talks with concert promoter AEG Live—which had been organizing Jackson’s London comeback—to set up a tribute show at a major Las Vegas hotel-casino, such as Cirque du Soleil did with the Beatles-themed LOVE at the Mirage.

A representative for AEG declined to comment, but executives have publicly stated they are interested in taking the momentum from the 50 sold-out Jackson concerts that never took place and putting it toward a tribute to the fallen pop star.

When he lived in Las Vegas between 2006 and 2007, Michael Jackson had also worked with businessman Jack Wishna on the idea of a LOVE-style spectacle featuring his music.

Garth Brooks Las Vegas Show Rumors Persist

As previously reported by Las Vegas Backstage Access, country singer Garth Brooks appears to be still actively looking for a Las Vegas gig, ostensibly with Steve Wynn’s Encore Theater, after previously retiring and walking away from his iconic rise to stardom in October 2000, saying he wanted to spend more time with his three daughters. GarthBrooks

Despite trying to ink a Las Vegas show deal, people from both camps remain stauch that there is no deal in the works.

Some close to the action are going so far as to say Brooks has already signed a 16-week headliner detail to appear at the Encore Theater, starting in October.

Ashton Kutcher in Las Vegas for Movie Premier, Diggnation Pow-Wow Today

Ashton Kutcher, actor and husband to Demi Moore and the face of Nikon’s Cool Pix camera campaign, will join Digg.com founder and former Las Vegas resident Kevin Rose for an episode of Diggnation this evening. The show’s regular co-host, Alex Albrecht, co-creator of podcast hit “The Totally Rad Show,” will also take part. ashtonkutcher

Kutcher fans and residents of Diggnation are invited to attend the Las Vegas-based broadcast, which will begin at 5 p.m. at the Palms Casino & Resort on August 5.

The tech-savvy trio, who exchanged plans on Twitter, will set up at the Pearl at 5:30 p.m., according to a Palms spokesperson.

The three Internet addicts will discuss the top stories listed on the Digg.com, a site that allows users to submit and share links to stories, blogs, videos and other Web content.

Yet Diggnation is not the only reason Kutcher is coming to town. The 31-year-old star is also headed this way for the premiere of his new movie, “Spread,” which hits theaters across the U.S. on August 14.

In “Spread,” produced by Kutcher’s Katalyst production company, Kutcher plays a fun-loving freeloader who suddenly finds himself on the street after his sugar mamma, played by Heche, discovers he’s been cheating on her with a woman younger than Kutcher — one who is Heche’s age.

Kutcher will also walk the red carpet about 6:30 p.m. today outside Brenden Theaters immediately following his guest spot on Diggnation.

Kutcher’s co-star, Anne Heche, will also be at the Palms for the premiere but it has not been said whether Kutcher’s famous and famously older wife, Demi Moore, will be there.

The May-December pair, who enjoy a 15-year age difference, tied the knot in 2005.

Mariah Carey Makes Tracks to Las Vegas

Mariah Carey announced that she will be soon coming to Las Vegas for four shows, spotlighted in the 2,500-seat Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms.

The quartet of shows at the Palms will be the most intimate of the multiple Grammy Award-winner’s career, and are scheduled for Sept. 11 and 12, and Oct. 9 and 10.

Tickets for the four shows range from $129 to $254 and will go on sale at noon on Aug. 8.

The September dates come just days before the release of Carey’s 12th album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” The record, which features Mimi’s current single, “Obsessed,” is set to hit stores four days after opening night at the Pearl, on Sept. 15.

The singer and occasional actress’s choice of venue is hardly a surprise: She and husband Nick Cannon spent a fair chunk of time on the Las Vegas venue in May and celebrated their one-year anniversary at the resort, as well. mariahcareynickcannon

Carey has spent a considerable amount of time in the resort’s recording studio during the weeklong trip this spring. And though no official details were announced, the fruits of her Studio at the Palms-based labor last spring will likely be featured on her soon-to-be-released record.

Since first breaking onto the scene two decades ago, the 39-year-old star has become the top-selling female vocalist of all time. Carey and her impressive, five-octave vocal range has sold over 175 million records worldwide.

With 72 total weeks at No. 1, she is currently tied with Elvis Presley for having spent the most time in the Hot 100’s top spot. She has 18 No. 1 songs and The King has 17, but both remain just shy of the all-time record for most No. 1 songs. The Beatles currently hold that title with 20, but if the Carey camp has its way, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” will achieve chart-topping perfection and render the Fab Four’s title a mere memory.

Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson’s Relationship is . . . On-Again!

Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson’s on-again, off-again relationship appears to be on again. The hot-and-cold couple was all smiles this weekend as they were spotted enjoying each other’s company, swapping gooey spit at Body English nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. tommyleepamelaanderson

The former husband and wife hit the town after Lee and the rest of Mötley Crüe performed at The Joint. Instead of laying low or attempting to shun the spotlight,  the attention-loving couple made their presence hotly known. Surprised fans cheered as the couple literally took center stage amidst an onslaught of blinding paparazzi cameras.

Lee, 46, and Anderson, 42, have a long history of giving their relationship another go.  “We’ve only given it a try 800 times – 801, here we go,” Lee told People in June of last year, as he and Anderson acknowledged they were giving things yet another try.

“It’s awesome. It’s definitely working,” Lee said, noting that Pammy and their two sons had moved back in with him.

Unfortunately, 801 proved to not be the magic number for the tumultuous couple and they soon went their separate ways again.

The Anderson-Lee saga dates to 1995, when the couple got married on the beach in Cancun after a short yet hot-and-heavy courtship.

They had two sons, Brandon and Dylan, before they divorced three years later.

Anderson didn’t just file for divorce in 1998; she also filed charges of assault against her then-husband after he allegedly kicked her while she was holding their son, Dylan. Lee later pleaded no contest, was sentenced to six months in jail, and ultimately served four months behind bars.

The couple gave things another go after Lee was released from prison, but the reconciliation was unsuccessful.

They have since engaged in a seemingly never-ending game of cat and mouse, officially and unofficially. They have also dated – and, in the case of Anderson, married – others in the interim.

Lee’s highest-profile, post-Pammy relationship was with Prince’s ex-wife, Mayte Garcia. They lived together in 2001 and were engaged at one point, too, but despite the ring they didn’t make it down the aisle before things went south.

Hard rocker Lee had been married twice before, to a woman named Elaine Bergen for a month 25 years ago and to actress Heather Locklear from 1986 until 1993.

Anderson, meanwhile, has been married twice since, to Kid Rock and Rick Salomon. She has also been engaged a time or two, too, including a brief diamond-encrusted encounter with model Marcus Schenkenberg, in 2001.

Rock gave the former Playmate a rock on the outskirts of Las Vegas when he proposed in the outlaying desert in 2002 (he even borrowed the late Buffalo Jim Barrier’s pink 1961 Cadillac Eldorado convertible for the event). They broke up in 2003 before they exchanged their vows but got back together in 2006.

Once reunited, the couple picked up where they left off and were married in St. Tropez, France, that July. At the time, Anderson called the wedding plans “spontaneous but well thought through.”

They reportedly tied the knot twice more, just to make things official, in both Beverly Hills and Nashville. But while three weddings might be a charm for some, they were not for Anderson and Rock: They couple filed for divorce a few months later, in November 2006.

Anderson was officially single again in early 2007.

She soon began dating Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, and the two got married in Las Vegas on Oct. 6, 2007. Unfortunately, that marriage, which took place at the Mirage, was destined to be little more than a mirage itself, as Anderson filed for divorce two months later. The union was annulled a few months after that, after both bride and groom cited fraud as the reason for the split.

While Anderson and Lee reunited for what seemed like (and may very well have been) the umpteenth time last year, Cupid’s arrow went astray and they soon went their separate ways.

Still, reports surfaced of a nervous and still-very-much-in-love Lee who apparently was urging his former flame to reconsider after Anderson fell for former “Baywatch” star Jamie Padgett this year.

While Lee was never cited as the reason why things didn’t work out for Anderson and her surfer boy, it would appear that it didn’t take her long to find her way back to her longtime, on-again, off-again, man.

Michael Jackson’s Death Draws Huge Auction Sales in Las Vegas

Before he died, Michael Jackson was on the down and out, broke to the tune of approximately $50 million- and growing.

Now that he’s gone, sales for any of his memorabilia are skyrocketing, with his children and estate executor more than likely well taken care of for their lifetimes.

On Friday, Julien’s Auction sold photos of Jackson, autographed albums and other memorabilia for a hefty sum at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Jackson’s lot was expected to gross $10,000 to $30,000.  It raked in $205,000.

“He’s back on top. He’s shining with the stars in heaven,” said Warwick Stone, who bought a piece of Jackson.

A Jackson 5 album signed by the band garnered $27,000.  Vintage photos: $2,200.  A Victory Tour costume shirt of Michael’s: $42,000.

Stone finds it sad but true that it takes dying to put Jackson’s value “back on the top.”

Animal Rights Groups Fighting Mad Over Dolphin Acquisitions at The Mirage in Las Vegas

As reported on by Las Vegas Backstage Access on June 7, the dolphin named Sgt. Pepper died on June 4 at The Mirage from complications from a lung infection.

Now we learn that two days before the death, two animal rights groups, Born Free USA and The World Society for the Protection of Animals, filed a legal complaint against The Mirage’s petition to request to import two more dolphins for the Las Vegas resort’s habitat.

On April 15, The Mirage placed an application with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service to import two captive Atlantic bottlenose dolphins form Bermuda for breeding purposes.

The filed complaint alleges more dolphins shouldn’t be brought in because other dolphins had died in the past at the habitat, which the two groups claim is being used as a money-making enterprise rather than for educational or conservation purposes, as The Mirage contends.

Holly Madison Turned Away from Las Vegas Nightclub

Holly Madison’s night on Las Vegas turned sour last Sunday when it was revealed that one of the girls in her entourage was underage.

Madison, 29, was looking forward to a much-overdue girls’ night out prior to the run-in. “Girls night out 2night! Haven’t had one in so long!  Can’t wait!” she posted to her Twitter account on Sunday evening.

A few hours later, however, the former “Girls Next Door” star was apparently “turned away” by security at the Body English nightclub inside the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas “because a fellow playmate she was with was caught sneaking in for being under age (sic).”

The situation was made public via the Hard Rock’s official Twitter page.

The identity of Madison’s young friend has not been released.

Don’t Expect Paris Hilton Back in Las Vegas Anytime Soon

BFFThe second season of  “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” premieres Tuesday on MTV, but instead of hanging out and partying in Las Vegas, the filthy rich socialite heiress has plans for finding her next hot and fabulous cohort–in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Variety, Hilton will head to Dubai later this month to begin the 17-day shooting process, with the finale shooting in Los Angeles. Hilton’s current boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt, is likely to appear in the show as well. (However, her other boyfriend, Real Madrid soccer star Christiano Ronaldo, appears to prefer the Las Vegas roulette tables, seen trying his luck at the Palms Casino last week.)

“Paris Hilton’s My New BFF-Dubai,” will be produced by Lionsgate and Ish Entertainment, who have struck a deal with the Dubai-based Uniqon. The deal is part of a larger Lionsgate initiative to locate new international partners.

Michael Hirschorn, co-founder of Ish Entertainment, is enthusiastic about the project.  “I love it for the sheer wildcard aspect of it,” he said. “It’s so out of the ordinary.”

The show will include Hilton’s experiences and reactions to Arab culture and society, as well as the girl-on-girl competition that the show’s format typically features. Half of the potential BFF’s will be from the Middle East, and half from elsewhere who are currently living in Dubai.

While testing the ladies’ character to see who fits her style, Hilton’s going to have to drastically tone down her behavior. Hirschorn said the Dubai production won’t be as risqué as the American and U.K. versions, given the cultural norms in the Middle East.

Let’s see how long the party gal fares without alcohol, swearing and plunging necklines.

But one thing is for certain:  Sightings of Steve Wynn’s British girlfriend Andrea Hissom have ramped up this month at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, amid rumors that she’s in the process of moving to Las Vegas after an amicableAndrea Hissom agreement was reached between Steve and Elaine Wynn, who are divorcing.

Paris Hilton to Stand Trial for Breach of Contract

Socialite extraordinaire and frequent Las Vegas partier Paris Hilton is like no other.  She just slipped up and didn’t honor a deal to promote herself as part of the film Pledge This!, according to its producers. ParisHilton3

A Miami judge ruled that he will not throw out a breach-of-contract lawsuit brought against the filthy rich ho-tel heiress by the distributors of the 2006 drivel.

Investors claim Paris’ failure to abide by her contractual obligation to adequately plug the straight-to-DVD sorority flick resulted in a loss of $8.3 million.

Ironically, she’s now indirectly doing more to promote it – testifying how she has to Google herself daily to remember what she said or did, rather than keep records, and so on – more than marketing managers could have possibly dreamed of.

Her attorney recently claimed Hilton to be “the single busiest person on the planet,” but still the logic escaped the  judge that didn’t throw out the case, telling her she must stand trial June 8.

As for her other projects less likely to result in lawsuits, she’s now soaking up the sun in Europe, with beau Doug Reinhardt, promoting the upcoming documentary Paris, Not France appearing this week at the Cannes Film Festival.

Hilton is also already hyping the forthcoming Season 2 of My New BFF that kicks off on June 2 on MTV, something that seems to hearken back to her Pledge This! days.

“It was basically Paris’ sorority house,” Hilton tells E! News.  “It’s about sisterhood – there’s pledging, there’s crazy challenges. We had the best time. We started out in Las Vegas, and these kids really were up for anything.”

Britney Spears’ Camp Slams Las Vegas College Kid

It’s never a dull day in ol’ Britneyland– always a circus, concert tour or not.

Jordan Miller, right, a 21-year-old University of Nevada, Las Vegas college student majoring in communicationsJordanMiller launched his breatheheavy.com Web site all about the pop star, literally out of a labor of love and admiration for the star, from his Summerlin, Nevada bedroom while being in high school in 2004.

Now, his Web site gets a half-million visits a day.

JamieSpearsMiller’s world started to turn upside down-last fall after he received an angry phone call from the Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, left, accusing him of copyright infringement.

Miller is fighting back.  “I’m working my ass off to report on this girl,” Miller said from his attorney’s office.  “I just think [Britney] is a really cool artist; I feel inspired by her. It’s a healthy hobby.  It takes a lot of work and dedication, but it’s self-fulfilling.”

Miller said father Jamie Spears replied, telling him:  “I am going to destroy your ass.”

“I was really freaking out for a good three, four weeks,” Miller said, adding,  “Lately, I’ve been doing my own thing.  I just kind of want to keep going.”

Each day, Miller scans the Internet for stories about Britney Spears, posting them on his Webs Site and adds his comments.  He also encourages her fans to send him concert photos and messages about her worldwide “Circus” tour.

Henderson, Nevada attorney Clarke Walton, who represents Miller pro bono, has been battling the Spears legal team tooth and nail.

Spears’ New-York based attorney Brad Rose says the use of the star’s recordings, images, copyrighted works and trademarks constitutes actionable infringement under the law.

Miller and Walton are puzzled that Team Spears would leave oodles of other fan sites alone and yet see fit to sic legal hounds on a kid who is simply a huge admirer of the singer.  Miller believes Jamie Spears is “trying to shut me down” simply because of Web site posted comments about the father’s control over his daughter.  Miller believe Jamie is keeping Britney a prisoner.

And it’s not like Miller has an Internet goldmine- Miller pays $300 a month to keep the site going and receives an average of $100 each month from advertisers.  Miller is also not using images or lyrics for commercial purposes, like selling merchandise.

“If they want to fight, I’d love this fight,” Walton said. “I feel confident we would win on the merits of this case.”

Paris Hilton on the Cheap in Las Vegas

Paris Hilton often calls Las Vegas her partying home.  Now that lifestyle may become even more of a regular reality, albeit more austere, as season two of her reality TV show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” faces the grim reality of diminished glamour brought on parishilton2by economic facts of life.

Contestants of the show have to face the realities of living in a mansion that costs half as much as the home of the show that was rented last season.  If that’s not enough indignity to suffer, trips to New York and Tokyo are out this year, as the show’s production budget has been cut by 10 percent.

With the recession continuing to eat into advertising revenue at TV networks, a popular solution has emerged – even cheaper reality TV.   This after reality shows already were TV’s low-budget alternative, costing about $950,000 per episode, versus $1.7 million for a scripted drama.

MTV, which plans to air the new Hilton show this summer, is filling more air time with new reality series rather than reruns, but, even so, its programming costs are down 17 percent per half hour, said Tony DiSanto, head of programming at the channel.

Sorry, Paris.

Marie, the only Osmond sister, lives in Las Vegas, says she is still a homebody as much as high roller — a mother to eight kids, a woman who struggles with her weight, time management, career choices and choosing a partner.

“I really don’t think my life is all that interesting,” said Osmond as she boarded a plane to sign her new book, Might as Well Laugh About It Now.  “But I am flattered by the people that have read it and identify with it.”  Her book chronicles various events in her life, from defending her father’s leadership of the family business to extolling her parents’ influence on her value system.

Recent TV gigs, ranging from her 2007 stint on “Dancing with the Stars” to appearances on “Oprah,” have reintroduced Osmond to a new generation or two who didn’t know her much beyond the squeaky-clean teenager of the 1970s-era “Donny and Marie” variety show.

Now a doll designer popular on the QVC cable shopping channel, Osmond agrees life in the media fishbowl is a trade-off in privacy, but she uses the attention to benefit others. Osmond and actor John Schneider dreamed up the Children’s Miracle Network in 1983. It’s a charity, Osmond says, that annually helps 17 million children and their families. The charity idea grew out the death of her brother’s infant daughter.

“We are all in fishbowls,” she said in an interview. “You just have to learn to be OK with yourself.”

As much as her later career has been separated from her family act, her life is still very much tied to the brothers with whom she traveled the world last year in performances marking the family’s 50 years in show business.

Her Las Vegas stage show at the Flamingo with brother Donny is on hiatus until April 21, but she has contracted for two more years and a solo syndicated TV talk show is in the works for this fall.

It’s all just another day for the work in progress Marie Osmond.

Criss Angel Blasts Perez Hilton in Las Vegas

criss-angelDefinitely no love is lost between “Mindfreak” Las Vegas illusionist Criss Angel and celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton. perez-hilton

As Angel was ending his magic show Friday at the Luxor in Las Vegas, he announced that he had someone special in the audience, asking Perez Hilton to stand up.

“We have the world’s biggest douchebag asshole in the house!” shouted an agitated Angel.

Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, smiled broadly and fired back:  “Thanks for the free tickets.”

The buzz is that Angel berated the blogger after his camp saw Perez Hilton’s Twitter site, which carried real-time comments dissing Angel’s show, including “unbelievably BAD!” and “I would rather be getting a root canal.”

So what you say? Perez Hilton has reportedly 600,000 “followers” on his Twitter social networking site.   That’s a whole lot of free marketing publicity.

Ne-Yo has come a long way . . .

While studying at the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies as a performing and visual arts major, Shaffer Smith neyolearned that it’s okay to be different.  Today, 29-year-old Ne-Yo – Shaffer was renamed after Matrix movie character Neo – doesn’t need to be concerned at all about being different.  He appears to be quite comfortable in his role as a three-time Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter, actor and record producer.

Ne-Yo has accepted his fourth acting gig, being part of the cast of George Lucas “Red Tails” – a film about the World War II Tuskegee pilots.  Yes,  it’s that George Lucas and it’s those Tuskegee pilots.

This will also be the feature film directorial debut for Anthony Hemingway.  In addition to Ne-Yo, the ensemble cast includes Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker and Method Man.

Out with Miss America, In with Miss USA

No sooner than Miss America pageant contestants sashayed in and out of Las Vegas, then 51 Miss USA contestants strutted in to take their place at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.  On April 4 at 6 p.m. all the Miss USA contestants will have their first official welcoming ceremony, with the public invited to come out and meet, greet and photograph the bevy of beauties outside the resort on Las Vegas Boulevard plaza, 3667 Las Vegas Boulevard South.

The iconic Donald Trump-owned Miss USA® Pageant returns for its second year to Las Vegas and the Theatre for the Performing Arts at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Representing Miss Nevada USA will be Georgina Vaughan, who will have a brief four-mile drive from her home in georgiavaugnSummerlin to the festivities.   The local 20-year-old blonde beauty plans to wear a bikini from Jessica Simpson’s swimsuit line for that part of the competition and promises that she’s also going to take a risk with her evening gown competition as well.

“It’s definitely going to be something spectacular and different. I want to be a trendsetter because that’s what Nevada is all about in the first place. It’s going to have a real sparkle to it, but nobody will see it until the actual moment I walk in it for the competition.”

Rounding out the Las Vegas welcoming committee entourage will be Crystal Stewart, 2008 Miss USA®; Thomas McCartney, president and CEO of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino; Lawrence Weekly, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Board of Director and Clark County Commissioner; and other dignitaries.  KLUC’s Chet Buchanan will be onsite as the local emcee.

If the mass meet and greet is just too bland for you, might want to consider attending the Sunday, April 5 pajama brunch at Simon at Palms Place from noon to 2 p.m.  Twenty-six Miss USA contestants will be in their jammies eating anything yummy.    Then that evening the high metabolism blessed lovelies will pig out on pasta at Buca di Beppo in Las Vegas and be entertained by chef Michael Miyahara.

There is no word on whether Katie Rees, Miss Nevada USA 2007, who was stripped of her title after racy photos emerged of her kissing other women, will show up to kibitz with the new flock of beauties.

Also, no blog postings are being planned about having fun at Guantanamo Bay, as happened when Miss Universe Venezulean beaty queen Dayana Mendoza visited the detainee camp with Miss USA 2008 Crystal Stewart and posted her late-March bombshell entry.  It quickly vanished and was replaced by a statement from embarassed Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe organization.

The 2009 Miss USA® Pageant will air live on NBC on April 19, 2009.
