The managing editor of the Las Vegas Sun says he’ll retire next month.
Michael J. Kelley said he plans to split time between his hometown of Kansas City, Mo., and Maryland, where his daughter and two grandchildren reportedly live. 
Kelley, 67, started in the newspaper business in 1960 and has been managing editor at the Sun since 1997.
In April, the Sun won the Pulitzer Prize for public service for stories about construction safety and worker deaths at resort projects in Las Vegas.
Kelley reportedly told Sun President and Editor Brian Greenspun last summer that he planned to retire and he notified his staff yesterday.
The Greenspun Media Group owns the Sun.
