“The Hills” Returns to MTV as Heidi Montag Reveals New Body

“The Hills” will be returning for one last season when it premieres Monday, April 27 on MTV. The final 12 episodes of the long-running series will deal with rumors about Kristin Cavallari, the brief return of Lauren Conrad and the ongoing drama that is Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. The trailer for the final season hints at both marriage trouble and the controversy surrounding Montag’s series of plastic surgeries, which have severely altered her appearance.

Montag, whose album Superficial has stalled despite early buzz, unveiled her new body – which has not stalled – in Las Vegas on April 10 when she donned a bikini to sit poolside at the Liquid Pool at Aria at CityCenter.

Is Las Vegas Beyonce’s Lucky Charm?

After a hugely popular and well received Las Vegas concert, it was announced on Tuesday that Beyonce and Lady Gaga each earned nine nominations for next month’s MTV Video Music Awards– more than any other artist. Beyonce

Reigning champ Britney Spears, another Las Vegas water-imbibing regular, continues her stiff musical comeback with seven nods for “Womanizer” and “Circus.”

For video of the year, Beyonce (“Single Ladies”) faces off against Spears, Eminem (“We Made You”), Kanye West (“Love Lockdown”), and newbie, but strong contender Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”).

Beyonce has only been nominated for video of the year once, losing her 2007 nod for “Irreplaceable” to, of all people, her husband, Jay-Z, and Rihanna for “Umbrella.”  Beyonce does have six wins out of 14 nods in various categories to console her. She contends for a slew more this year, with “Single Ladies” earning nine nominations in total, including best female and pop videos as well as six technical nods.

Talks are on for Beyonce to return to Las Vegas to perform over the holidays.

Don’t Expect Paris Hilton Back in Las Vegas Anytime Soon

BFFThe second season of  “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” premieres Tuesday on MTV, but instead of hanging out and partying in Las Vegas, the filthy rich socialite heiress has plans for finding her next hot and fabulous cohort–in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Variety, Hilton will head to Dubai later this month to begin the 17-day shooting process, with the finale shooting in Los Angeles. Hilton’s current boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt, is likely to appear in the show as well. (However, her other boyfriend, Real Madrid soccer star Christiano Ronaldo, appears to prefer the Las Vegas roulette tables, seen trying his luck at the Palms Casino last week.)

“Paris Hilton’s My New BFF-Dubai,” will be produced by Lionsgate and Ish Entertainment, who have struck a deal with the Dubai-based Uniqon. The deal is part of a larger Lionsgate initiative to locate new international partners.

Michael Hirschorn, co-founder of Ish Entertainment, is enthusiastic about the project.  “I love it for the sheer wildcard aspect of it,” he said. “It’s so out of the ordinary.”

The show will include Hilton’s experiences and reactions to Arab culture and society, as well as the girl-on-girl competition that the show’s format typically features. Half of the potential BFF’s will be from the Middle East, and half from elsewhere who are currently living in Dubai.

While testing the ladies’ character to see who fits her style, Hilton’s going to have to drastically tone down her behavior. Hirschorn said the Dubai production won’t be as risqué as the American and U.K. versions, given the cultural norms in the Middle East.

Let’s see how long the party gal fares without alcohol, swearing and plunging necklines.

Paris Hilton to Stand Trial for Breach of Contract

Socialite extraordinaire and frequent Las Vegas partier Paris Hilton is like no other.  She just slipped up and didn’t honor a deal to promote herself as part of the film Pledge This!, according to its producers. ParisHilton3

A Miami judge ruled that he will not throw out a breach-of-contract lawsuit brought against the filthy rich ho-tel heiress by the distributors of the 2006 drivel.

Investors claim Paris’ failure to abide by her contractual obligation to adequately plug the straight-to-DVD sorority flick resulted in a loss of $8.3 million.

Ironically, she’s now indirectly doing more to promote it – testifying how she has to Google herself daily to remember what she said or did, rather than keep records, and so on – more than marketing managers could have possibly dreamed of.

Her attorney recently claimed Hilton to be “the single busiest person on the planet,” but still the logic escaped the  judge that didn’t throw out the case, telling her she must stand trial June 8.

As for her other projects less likely to result in lawsuits, she’s now soaking up the sun in Europe, with beau Doug Reinhardt, promoting the upcoming documentary Paris, Not France appearing this week at the Cannes Film Festival.

Hilton is also already hyping the forthcoming Season 2 of My New BFF that kicks off on June 2 on MTV, something that seems to hearken back to her Pledge This! days.

“It was basically Paris’ sorority house,” Hilton tells E! News.  “It’s about sisterhood – there’s pledging, there’s crazy challenges. We had the best time. We started out in Las Vegas, and these kids really were up for anything.”

Paris Hilton on the Cheap in Las Vegas

Paris Hilton often calls Las Vegas her partying home.  Now that lifestyle may become even more of a regular reality, albeit more austere, as season two of her reality TV show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” faces the grim reality of diminished glamour brought on parishilton2by economic facts of life.

Contestants of the show have to face the realities of living in a mansion that costs half as much as the home of the show that was rented last season.  If that’s not enough indignity to suffer, trips to New York and Tokyo are out this year, as the show’s production budget has been cut by 10 percent.

With the recession continuing to eat into advertising revenue at TV networks, a popular solution has emerged – even cheaper reality TV.   This after reality shows already were TV’s low-budget alternative, costing about $950,000 per episode, versus $1.7 million for a scripted drama.

MTV, which plans to air the new Hilton show this summer, is filling more air time with new reality series rather than reruns, but, even so, its programming costs are down 17 percent per half hour, said Tony DiSanto, head of programming at the channel.

Sorry, Paris.
